The computers have Oklahoma 1 and Texas 2. I speculated previously that this might happen, and many disagreed. Only one of the six computers have Florida ahead of Texas. The extra game that Florida played, and beating Alabama, were not enough mathematically in the computers brains to push them ahead of Texas.

The human element, however, did the right thing, I think, and put Florida in. Many will debate about whether they should play Oklahoma or Texas, but I'm glad the humans ranked Florida high enough to overcome the snub by the computers.

I would be interested to know how the computers arrive at their picks. When we gave Auburn the worst beating they got all year, we dropped in the computer rankings. One now has USC 9th!

All I said was if Florida beats Bama...there's no possible way they're left out. And they weren't, and nobody thought for a second that they would be...it was a given.

My interpretation of how the computers work is that there are computer weenies across the country and each one has his own method and program that they input data into. After each weenie inputs their data all of the different computer programs are averaged together to give us the BCS rankings. I saw a tv special a week or two ago and they were interviewing some of the weenies. One of them said he had never watched a football game in his life but he knew a lot about math. Hmmmm.......
