No effort. Getting out hustled. Every team we play comes out with passion and fire to win and we just run a three man weave at the top of the key for 25 seconds and hurl up a contested shot. Cant make free throws. No clue what the other team is trying to execute against us and no clue how to stop it. never put a press on during the game to try and speed Florida up. I just threw up in my mouth for the last two hours. At least there is softball to get excited about.

The main problem is coaching especially the head coach.

Some of you are also the people who were super excited last year about the Bball team..calm it down a bit

I cant remember the last time I've been excited about Alabama basketball. Avery had probably the best athlete the basketball team has had in 20 years last year and even then, in a sport where one great talent can sometimes make the difference, couldn't keep from being an absolute disappointment.

In 2018 Bama made it to the second round of the NCAA's. They hadn't made the dance since 2012. And you're calling that "an absolute disappointment?" A disappointment even when that was the stated goal for the program by Avery himself?

This is what I'm referring to when I mention fans with unrealistic expectations. Although, in this case, it reads more like revisionist history to label last season in such a fashion.

The fact that you see making the second round this many years into his tenure, and the year like I said he had a generational talent, as NOT being a disappointment is proof that mediocrity (and less) will always be tolerated in Alabama basketball.

The point of ignoring what was inherited—and the state of the program at that point—which isn't being taken into account when you're judging a guy who took the team to the NCAA's in his third year. It leaves me befuddled.

Again, expectations?

I know I've said this several times. When he was hired, Avery said it was the goal of the program to be back in the NCAA's by year three. The Tide came close in year two. They reached their goal in year three.

It's literally a case where the coach set the goals for the team, stated so publicly, met those goals and it's a disappointment?

If you expected more from year three you have to ask yourself why. Geez, the guy said it was going to take three years. It did. And because it took as long as he said it would, it's a disappointment?

Can you see how this logic makes no sense to me? It's as if you've expected the entire culture to change overnight. Hell, it took the better part of a year just to get the fan base energized again.

Some fans expect a coach whether that be Avery or Calipari to turn beef jerky into a rib eye.

It’s going to take time for Avery to get the program where it needs to be and to think he should be able to do that by year 3 is simply foolish and unrealistic. Avery got here with the cupboards completely bare and the program in the shit hole.
