What's IU done outside of two wins against teams that are one game over .500 and their other eight come from teams with a losing record?
I am just saying conrtol what we can control. I really could not care less about IU or any of these other teams. We need to do our job and stop putting ourselves in a position where we have to make excuses. Ole Misses of the world have always needed to debate because they fell short. Bama has not needed that until now. Not a trend I want to see us having to embrace.

now I understand and agree that IU is not as good as several 3-4 loss teams, but it is what it is at this point. I also think Miami is a paper tiger. Arizona state is a current “media darling”, so they could slip in too.
I really think next season, Deboer will have things rocking and rolling next season. On a good day this team, this year could break some hearts of current playoff teams again on a good day.

Good lord Lane stop proppiing up yours and our failures. Win your games and then there is no having to debate it. Bama did not get it done nor did Ole Miss... Live with it. Get better.

He ain't wrong though. Georgia had a rough schedule this year. Look at their away games. Now look at Miami, Clemson, Indiana, Penn State, and even Oregon/Ohio State.

I do understand what you are saying; the mindset it comes from.

IF Lane is focused, IU would be blow out if we saw an Ole Miss vs IU game. SMU? Put them against UGA and it's their game against TCU 2.0.

Stepping back and look at this from a Bama perspective? We still don't know what this team is...

Yeah most of my comments are about mindset because everything starts there. Mindset of attention to details, refusing to be outworked etc..... that is how you keep from having to make excuses.

In another thread you pointed out how we are no longer talking about Bama basketball making the tournament but talking about seeding here in November. It is the mindset.

On the "we do not know what this team is", I disagree.... We know what they are. A team that has a very high ceiling but a looooong way to go. The team has the identity of #4 which is means inconsistent, Can be great but can be average at best..

They can be great. They can be average. We don't know what we are going to see. Therefore, "we do not know what this team is." I'm not trying to be contentious on this subject. I have to say, "if we don't know what team is going to show up tomorrow..."

With that being said, we’ll know which team shows up, 5 minutes into the game. After a handful of drives. Which I truly believe is just “growing pains”.

I alluded to this in another thread: there's a mental thing that's going on in the complex...not sure if a few can get out of their own shadow (for lack of a better expression this morning.) JM ... concerns me. Not about his ability, his head.

That's what I worry about the most. I noticed his demeanor has changed in recent weeks and He don't seem to be the same guy mentally and emotionally since UGA game. Something happened and its' affecting him. I think all the negative things beign said about him the last few weeks has been brutal and I think he's noticing it. I've noticed he's not doing much interviews, or promoting anything lately. SO he needs to win tomorrow, and play within the system and give up the ball on almost all zone read. They're expecting to see him keep the ball.. so hopefully he understands that. We'll know more about where he is on first two drive....

We are consistently inconsistent. We’ve scored a TD on our first drive in 3 games this year outside of Mercer and W. Kentucky. Those were against S. Carolina, LSU and Georgia. Happens to be the best 3 teams we’ve beaten this year. 2 home games and 1 is home away from home almost. Why did we come out so prepared and hot those games and not all the others?

Interestingly, in 4 games we’ve gone 3 and done on our first possession. 3 of those were our 3 losses and 1 was South Florida. (Vandy was a 2 play then pick-6, so I guess even worse than a 3 and out). Hard to argue that the first possession sets the tone for us for how our day will go.

I’ve posted stats on Milroe’s declining passing performance the second half of the season but here’s how it’s translated to our superstar receiver. Williams has averaged 43 yards the last 6 game, .3 TD per game and 3.8 catches per game. We’ve given him 2 total rushing attempts in those 6 games where he average 26 yards per carry. We have failed to utilize his talents and that’s frustrating.

I’m not going to go through and look at Haynes and Miller’s utilization because I’m sure it would be equally as frustrating. The thing is, this isn’t hindsight. We see this happening in real time during games and are helpless to do anything other than lambast our TV screens or the fans sitting around us. A shame we’ve wasted such good talent.

But all of things goes back to what: Playcalling. Making better decisions.

And I’d add accuracy to those. Milroe’s 65% isn’t awful (35th in the country), but a few of Williams big yardage catches were not good throws at all. He made circus catches to pull them in. Games like the UT game where he was targeted 19 times and had 8 grabs. Those 11 incompletions were more on Milroe than Williams. Ryan could have hauled in another couple, but most of those misses were not good throws or decisions.
