| GAME THREAD šŸ†CFB- The Playoffs: Quarterfinals: The playoffs resume Thursday night

Could this loss be a turning point for Georgia and Smart? A turning point in the downward direction? Thats about the worst theyā€™ve looked in a game under his tenure. Theyā€™ve scored 10 three other times but not in a bowl game and only once in the last 4-5 years (2022 to open season against Clemson). Their QB is not that good, but Iā€™ll preface that with, I didnā€™t think Stetson was either. They struggled numerous times this year, but tonight was the crown jewel. I hope it is the start of their decline! Wishful thinking at least.

Most of the ā€œexpertsā€ have just assumed UGA would become the new Bama. Kirby & UGA may be finding out how tough it is to stay on top. To me, that was the most impressive thing about Bryant & Saban - a DECADE of dominance.

Corrected this for you. Both had success more than a decade so I rounde up :). Those two basically owned College footbal for 35-40 years..

Letā€™s hope. Them dawgs are about on the same level as Auburn and Tennessee to me. šŸ¤®

Maybe, but I doubt it. They still recruit at a high level, my boy Schumann is still pumping out Butkus winners(I'm really fucking jealous of this), and they're gonna have an experienced and extremely talented defense next season. They fix their offensive problems, and they'll be fine. He probably needs to move on from Bobo and see if he can get someone else. Plus today's loss started with that turnover before the half, I understand you want to be aggressive and get points, but you're playing with a guy making his first ever start. And he comes out guns a blazing to top it all off, why not try to get some yards before taking a shot like that? Especially with how their line played up to that point, give him options to get the ball out quickly and get some yards. Their defense played great today, they were put in a shitty situation by this turnover, amd gave up an immediate touchdown due to it. I get college football has changed in terms of how coaches think, but why not just take it to the half? Especially when your defense is that good, trust them enough that they'll get the job done.

It was mentioned a few times before the season started and a few times as we went through last fall: "what did Kirby say before the season kicked off?"

He was worried about team continuity, He mentioned worrying about their focus. Literally, much like Beamer before Va Tech took on Bama in 2009 and ol' Frank was talking about the losses before the game kicked off ... Kirby warned everyone his locker room wasn't what it has been.

Several times over the last seven or eight hours I've noticed Brian Kelly drop on and off the "Trending" lists on X. I'm not surprised.

I can't help but wonder what this morning would be like if LSU had lost their bowl game and we saw ND do that last night.

Okay? I was going to ask this during the end of the Ari. St and Texas game! Why wasn't that targeting? Its look like a helmet to helmet? Also why was that a roughing the kicker flag in the ND and UGA game? The guy did it twice back to back.

Kirby has the same problem as Bama. Both have way too many players chasing top dollar and not winning. They're just happy with themselves. They're going to be surprised when the NFL looks at other players to give money when their career in college ends.

The rosters in the SEC for the most part are out of balance. You can see it if you just LOOK. Notre Dame whipped UGA's ass in all phases.

Son and I were talking about who would have been in if it were still a 4 team, like prior years. Our guess:

Oregon 13-0
Georgia 11-2 SEC champ
Boise 12-1 and conf champ, only loss a close one at Oregon
Either Penn State 12-2 with losses to OSU and Oregon, Texas 11-2 with 2 losses to UGA, Indiana 11-1 with loss to OSU.

Again just a guess for fun. So likely only 1 team that is in the final 4 would have been in it under prior setup.

List of SEC coaches that got outcoached in bowl games:

Huepel
Sark
Kirby
DeBoer
Beamer
Elko

Not a good year for the conference, a lot of humbling going on in the post-season. On paper, we have the best athletes on average and the highest paid coaches. Not equaling favorable results in this first year of the expanded playoffs.
You know heuple just got a contract for 14 mill/ year
