My view is simple. If we were executing well but loosing because we did not have the talent then there would be hope based on improved recruiting. As it stands better athletes playing in an undisciplined fashion would not improve the program. Coach Johnson is an excellent pro coach but has proven he can not coach talented but undisciplined players.
What does this say about the assistant coaches on his staff? What do they do at practice? After the 2006 season (as I recall it) Mal ask Mike Shula what his plan was for making the team better going forward (maybe replace the OC (himself) or the Haverty's furniture salesman. Mike had no plan for the most part. If Avery gets another year (I believe he will) then at least the AD should demand Johnson take a deep look into his staff and what they bring to the program.
