Ive had to tell people several times this year to remain calm about "ugly wins" (ala Tulane/UK/Ole Miss)

I bleed crimson, and I am still amazed at the turnaround. When the announcement came that Saban was our coach, I thought we would win 10 games in 07. 7-6 brought me down to earth. The recuiting class gave me a little hope. I thought we would lose at least one against Clemson, GA, or Tenn. Never dreamed Bama would be in the top 3 this year, but am loving every minute of it.

Honestly, this is the scenario I could see playing out:

If we beat LSU it will be because LSU was down...they have already lost twice and had 50+ scored on them.

When we beat MSU it is because MSU stinks.

When we beat Auburn, it is because Auburn Stinks.

If we beat Florida in the SECCG, the SEC is down this year and UF was exposed.

We win the BCSCG, the entire nation is down and Bama never beat anybody all season!

I'd like to know what stock picks you've made b/c you obviously have/had a crystal ball for this college football season.

This is not directed to anyone on this board, just some of the many "pessimistic" 'Bama fans around the Internet.

Were are you guys? What happened? Are you sad? Are you mad?

This season must really suck for lots of you. You must revamp your posting habits and modify them and basically change your whole pissy outlook if you still want to screw with 'Bama fans.

I know, I know, you are an Alabama fan, just a realistic one. You always wanted to make sure none of your many AuNeck friends thought you were an irrational redneck.

You always lowballed Alabama's chances in order to seem dignified and classy. You thought if you had hope or even wished for the best, it would lower your standing in the eyes of the nation and your AuNeck pals.

Seeming above the riff-raff that you consider to be the typical Alabama fan was your main concern, it is all about appearances to you and your type.

Well, this is my chance to tell all of you and your type that 'Bama fans don't want you now. We don't like you, and we want to vomit on your two faces when you come slinking around and praising Alabama now that they are doing well.

You are the worst type of fan and represent the worst of this great fanbase. Please find another team to latch onto. 'Bama fans can't stand you, you don't belong, and you aren't part of the process.

I don't really post here, so I know you aren't talking to me. However, I have been a bit hesistant to chug the koolaid. We are a good team no doubt, but we are far from invincible. JPW can't have one of his "off games" against LSU or UF, it just can't happen. I'm not a JPW hater either. UF looks like they're on another level right now, but they haven't played a defense as good as ours imo.

The bolded part is just funny. Who are you to question anyone's fanhood? I'm very happy we are undefeated fwiw.

If I wanted to listen to a bunch of sunshine pumpers, I'd read Bama Online. Thankfully this forum is nothing like that place.

Honestly, they are waiting for the first loss.

There are a handful that have posted here that have literally disappeared since the Clemson win. I see them lurking around at times, but not participating in the forum at all.

I had an interesting series of posts with a Bama hater on the Ole Miss forum. After we beat them, there was a thread in which they were saying that we should not be #2 (which is like saying you suck but not as much as we do...I have never understood running down someone who beat you). I replied to the thread that Alabama deserved to be ranked #2 as much as anyone else...his response was that Florida/USC/PSU/LSU etc. would beat us. My reply was "they haven't yet so we deserve to be ranked second until they do." Again his response was classic - "Oh yeah? You gonna come back after you get a loss hung on you?"

I literally laughed out loud at that one. I replied back with the question "I never said we were unbeatable - just unbeaten; at what point does having a loss no longer prove we suck and merit a return trip to take my medicine? The SECCG? The BCS? If we lose in the BCS Championship is that proof that we are not #2 or proof that we are? What if we lose to UF and they win the NC? Do I have to take my medicine for that?"

All season long people have been attacking and belittling our accomplishments. Here is the before and after of our season

All the talking heads are starting to come around. In the mean time I am a strict fan of the process. I am drinking the Koolaid but I still drink scotch to get drunk.

A great thread. In defense of some of the quieter fans, some of us have had to take a heart pill during some of the previous years games. It takes time to have confidence when you have fallen off the horse as much as we have.

I am thrilled one game at a time.

I have not done the breakdown for the trickle down column yet, and on first look I think Bama should win this game handily...but something has me uneasy. I don't know what, but I feel a bit more anxious about this game than I have any game all season.

Maybe it is nothing...jitters from being #1 and knowing that we have a bullseye on us. I just don't know.

Maybe I will feel better after I do the statistical analysis.

I know LSU has lost 2 games and had 50 dropped on them both times... I don't know what it is.

I have not picked against Bama at all this season, and I have come extremely close to the exact points score many times - even nailing the score once and coming almost perfect on the spread a couple of times. Something about LSU makes me uneasy.

It may be what has me nervous is that this is the first team we have played that is both physical and talented. We have played physical teams that had a lack of talent and had trouble with them. We have played skilled finesse teams and eaten them alive. Arkansas was a finesse team that lacked skill so I expected a blowout. LSU is physical and has skill. That concerns me because I don't think a shoot-out favors us.

We almost beat them last year and they were better than this year while we were much worse, but I am still concerned about how this game will go. Like I said, maybe a statistical analysis will help. I am going to start on it now.

The original post was addressing the issue of the chicken little barners in elephant's clothing we have around the Bama boards - more notably BamaMag than here. Guys like "therealist" and his kin.

Not the logical and rational types who worry a bit with good reason - rather the kind who are bashing JPW for the ASU game.

I saw us winning 8 games at the least, 10 or 11 if we caught some breaks and what we've done so far has exceeded my expectations.

It's OK to be happy and optimistic about our team. More of our fans should try it.

Besides, there's already enough pessimism out there about our chances to hang onto our #1 ranking. I just happened to turn on the TV to ESPN this morning. The Mike and Mike show is on (must admit I've never watched this show). Golic (the fat one) was talking about the NC scenarios for Penn St, Texas Tech, Florida, and USC. The only time he mentioned Alabama was to say "forget about Alabama, Florida will beat them; they're playing too many young players". :roll:

So, there's yet another ESPN "expert" who apparently doesn't understand how a great defense can shutdown a flashy, high-scoring offense. This year reminds me more and more of 1992.

I don't know if C/A/D is talking to me or not, but just in case here goes.

I say it now because I posted it then. I had no clue we would be undefeated at this point. Preseason, I thought we would drop 3-4 but would be much better than last year. (I'm still supremely optimistic about next year.)

What I did not foresee was Clemson, Tennessee, and Auburn blowing up to the degree that they have. Clearly Alabama is not this only issue these teams face this year. I join America in not seeing Georgia failing to show up in the first half of our game. I did not see the Crimson Tide having no significant injuries through summer and the first 2/3s of the season. These tend to take the edge of the impressiveness of what we have achieved to this point. This is as much of a realist statement as pointing out that we have beat everyone on our schedule thus far is realistic.

In keeping with the theme, I respectfully disagree with 'If' in these statements. Should be 'when'to be completely optmistic.

When ever teams are winning fans become more evident. In my area (Kentucky), I've never seen so many tags and flags. But thats OK. I don't have any more special ownership of the team than those people. For those guys yelling negative statements about the team, they have that right and thats the way they see it. At the beginning of this season i thought that we would win maybe 10 games this year. But we were going to be better than last year. I knew that would beat Clemson and Georgia. I know that there is a new coach at the helm but sometimes you start to think about past alabama teams that just didn't measure up. Not going to mention the 2000 team.

Everyone, I feel like I have made enemies while not even trying to make enemies. I know how to make enemies online, trust me. I wasn't doing that.

Actually, honestly, I wasn't even thinking of anyone on this board. I was thinking of some real life people around town that I know, and lots of posters on other boards.

You have all seen their types online and probably know some in the real world.

They are downers, always bringing up the negative and seemingly loving every last second of it. Many are not even 'Bama fans but only pretend to be and gleefully destroy message boards with the dissension they create.
