šŸˆ Buy or Sell? UGA wasn't focused on the game. They were looking ahead knowing they were going to be in the playoffs?

I try and look at these games with a broader lense than the score. If you remove the turnovers this game is much tighter. 2nd qtr Bama had their way with UGA's defense. 2nd half except for the first and last drive, UGA played our offense much better. Was that because of Metchie getting hurt or something else? Do not know but our productivity was not as good in the 2nd half. Offense only scored 10 2nd half points.

Now looking at their offense, they moved the ball and had 450+ yards of offense and 30 first downs. That is not shutting them down. The turnovers were the difference. I do think we played well on Defense against the run pretty much the whole game. Doing that help us dictate the game and forced Stetson to play a game that is not his strength. He still had a very productive game outside of the turnovers.
And if you take two scores away Georgia it’s a worse beating, can’t take away points and say ā€œthis is a closer gameā€.

Bottom line is even without those turnovers we whooped them and made their asses quit

To me all this falls under do not get to high or to low especially in a rematch.

Our D shutting someone down someone is what we did against the Barn not what we did against UGA.

The flip side is also the impact of losing Metchie on our offense. We exposed their D when we could run some but more so because we pass blocked well. We have had our struggles there so they are not likely to be ALL fixed and could show back up.

Do we match up well against UGA? It appears so. Does that guarantee the same results? To be determined. Prepare well and be able to make in game adjustments to whatever strategy they bring to the rematch.
We play them again we win. This isn’t a case of we match up well with Georgia, this is a case of they played inferior competition and were overhyped, they lined up against a better team and when they punched we punched back harder until they just couldn’t take it anymore

I understand that, but I know someone was going to see the numbers and ask about the CCG rematches in bowls. So far the loser of a CCG hasn't made the playoffs anyway so this is all new. That being said, I am not sure UGA can really do anything about what happened in the SECCG when we play again. Their defense may have better answers but I doubt their offense does.
But there have been teams that didn't play in their CCG who made it into the playoffs (Alabama).

Fantastic post! My thought's exactly.

I would add that I do believe that motivational advantages exist.... And in the last game, desperation was certainly on UA's side. Can I quantify that? Absolutely not. But there are pros out there who do try and quantify that, and it impacts the odds of every game. Coming off a win, a loss, do teams need wins to be bowl eligible, etc. I believe the betting public was somewhere around 80% of $ on UGA at one point... Meaning, the public believed that line was too low. Vegas has a way of setting certain lines to their advantage by being able to quantify some of those motivational (and stragetic, historical, inside info, etc.) advantages.

So to simply just agree with your post, I think losing Metchie and a motivational shift would impact the competitiveness of the game in UGA's favor in comparison to last weekend. How much, I don't know. But every game is different and for different reasons... I sure hope we get to see it!

I definitely agree with this. There have been a number of games I have bet on where I have been suckered into thinking a line was too good to be true, only for it to actually be. No rhyme or reason, but then the team you bet on gets smoked.

LOL I did some work for some Auburn alums this week, and they all said they hated UGA fans more than us. That UGA's fans are extra "smarmy" like they're still vicariously living in the Hershel Walker days.

Their opinion is consistent with the consensus here.
Funny how many of them throw their lot in with UGA fans when it comes to Bama though.

Like someone said... about uga fans..... "bama mouths with vandy trophy cases"

I live in Ga, and their fans are just dirty and pathetic. I'll never forget going to a car show with my family (3 children under 5 with one in a stroller) and we were all in our Bama gear. Some UGA fans came up and started laughing and yelling at us how they couldn't wait to beat our a$$ that afternoon. This was the 2008 Blackout game.

They all were mighty mouthy before the game, but I haven't seen a single dawg shirt since.

But they always were a year away....according to most....
And previous HC ..Rietch.....was such a great decent guy.....lol

Man, probably one of the most epic highlight videos ever, IMO, is one that released right after that beatdown. And I haven't been able to find it for YEARS.

But the soundtrack was set to the Pretender by the Foo Fighters. And whomever made the video timed the bridge when it goes quiet right back into the downbeat of the big last chorus, was synced perfectly with the Julio fade catch in the back of the endzone which was the coffin-nailer in that game. So epic.

And I cannot find that video. ANYWHERE. And it pisses me off. I think it may have been released by the Football Media Relations, even? Do you remember that highlight video that I'm talking about? Anybody? @TerryP , @planomateo , @doemasters , @It Takes Eleven ?

ETA: I FOUND IT! And prefacing, After watching it on my laptop, my thoughts are "Man, this is so grainy 10+years later. Maybe this wasn't released by the football media offices? It looks like it was made on a 1st-gen iPhone." - and then at the end, the "TideTV" graphics. And man, I WAS right! Good lord, how spoiled are we nowadays with 2k to 4k graphics? I remember when this video released, it was so epic. And it still kinda is, the way it's synced with the soundtrack. But does this speak to how our eyes and brains have adjusted over a decade, to where we process such detail in graphics now that we can literally see pixels that we couldn't back then? Geeze.

So much so. I remember back when we had a 13 inch TV and rabbit ears. If you turned on the game late you might not even know the score or time until a commercial break as graphics were often lacking and don't even bother trying to tell who caught the ball until Keith Jackson said who it was. Now I bitch if it gets a little pixelated to where I can't quite read the name of the player who caught the ball on my 65 inch 4K TV or I can't tell the exact down and distance along with time on the play clock.

I just bought the new fire tv stick 4k Max about a month ago. My older Roku was getting glitchy. All of a sudden in the last week or so, all the local channels (Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC) are fuzzy and look like standard definition. Weird thing is, all other channels are crystal clear. It's driving me insane because I can't figure out why. Looked in settings, googled it, etc. Got nothing. About to throw the firestick over the fence and dig the Roku back out of the drawer.

I don’t know either. I have fire stick and it’s fine.

Look at this. I feel like I’m watching tv at Motel 6 in Columbus, Ga.

But, ESPN and all the cable networks? Perfectly clear. It’s like some weird curse has been placed on me by a witch that didn’t want to be too mean, just annoying.
