šŸˆ Black players @ Mizzou strike (UPDATE: Bill proposed in legislature, "you strike, you're out.")

I have no ambition to explain the tweets of people I don't know
Yet, no problem telling plano he needs to "wake the hell up" and he's someone you don't know?

I'm seeing two side of the coin here.

FWIW, I've not come to a conclusion on how I feel about this. I do find things in this thread that throw me for a loop.

I am sure some of the guys on that team both black and white did not agree to the boycott, hell I'm not sure if I would have agreed, but you can't criticize the reason for them wanting to do it.

I don't see anyone criticizing the "reason for them wanting to do it." I do see some questioning the avenue they chose. I question my own perception when I think this is eerily similar to a kid pitching a tantrum ... "I'll just take my ball and go home."

If any person or group of people are being wronged, it is up to "good men" to stand up against it.

Agreed. Wholeheartedly. Although, based on things I saw in their homecoming parade and the way they treated a fellow student who was reporting on this I'm very hesitant to say we're watching "good men."

There is one asinine set of opinion that I've seen too often these past few days: "just pull their scholly."

It goes to show there's a lot of people that are so damn busy staring at the tree they haven't seen the forest. We, as college football fans, are in the tail end of watching the NCAA say—time and time again—they don't pull scholarships for bad play, behavior (unless it's criminal,) etc.

So no photo exists or video exist of the person who called these people these negative words to create most of this tension? :headscratch:

Isn't Mizzou a journalism school?

So the same lady that told that journalism student to respect their space asked for media coverage days earlier. Like I said earlier, a lot of ignorance in that video.

Yale just experienced something similar just days ago. An email was sent out warning students of Halloween costumes and how they might be viewed as being offensive, the professor suggested to look away and not be offended. So the students decided to protest, because their comfy safe space had been violated. Most of the dialoge is on youtube, its fascinating actually. This professor didn't fold like a cheap seat (ala, Mizzou administrators), the professor hit this head on and addressed all the issues. Bravo Nicholas Christakis!

Everyone is a crusader in college, thinking they'll change the world from their little soapbox that consists of people with ideals similar to theirs. It's not until they get out in the real world to where they realize their little fantasy island doesn't hold up and work. They want equality and special treatment, yet they don't give it in return. They're as close minded as the ones they attempt to belittle. Its straight pathetic. "Everyone is Liberal in college, but once they graduate and their money is affected by certain laws, their outlook on many social issues drastically changes." From multiple professors of mine in college.

I spent a few summers in Madison, Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin. A cab driver put it best - "1o,000 square blocks surrounded by reality".

If you would read my post I didn't try to explain "plano"s " post I offered a opinion on groups vs individual protest with examples. I also believe we had a good conversation without you coming to his rescue. He handled himself quite well. And if you don't see any criticizing in this thread I think you must not have read them all. I also never said everyone in this protest were "good men" that is usually never the case when you are dealing with large groups, but I do think the intent is for "good reason". You see I think any cause to right a wrong is better than doing nothing. We can sit back all day and debate what they and doing and whether its the best way to do it, but the bottom line is, is that they did something. And some of you do need to "wake-up" in understanding that different people feel different ways, and YOUR way is not the ONLY way.

100% agree. Them that can, do. Them that can't, teach. The chickens in this wave of PC BS we've seen over the past seven years are coming home to roost and some of the liberal universities are getting the chickens they deserve. I deeply regret this is the America I'm leaving to my children and grandchildren.

Once again making a statement that you're right and others that aren't agreeing with your every word is wrong. You lose any audience you had by those comments, if you hadn't already that is. The short sided point of view is exactly what these people are trying to eradicate. Doing something about this is the right move. Demanding things is not, especially with a lack of evidence and only word of mouth.
