Oats praised his development midseason.



“When he’s at his peak, it looks like he should be an NBA player,” Oats said in February. “Can we get that every time or a lot more consistent than what it is? It’s hard for me to say right now just because he’s been out with illness and injuries so much. So right now we’re just trying to get him to continue to gain weight because he kind of lost a lot of what he gained when he got sick. So, kind of where that’s at.

Had heard from someone I trust that Bama was very interested and pushing for a visit (reason for adding him yesterday). Not sure how the zoom call will go, but it’ll be interesting to see if he does visit.

I hope Alabama is being more aggressive with transfer portal this year. They did good job last year, but I want to see Bama being aggressive and get the players we need and we will do that. I just hate we miss out on players that would benefit us very well.

I saw a post today on X that said (loosely quoted) transfers, that are starters, in the SEC are worth at least 1 million. I'm was told that TI-R reports he is getting 1.5.

I hope Alabama is being more aggressive with transfer portal this year. They did good job last year, but I want to see Bama being aggressive and get the players we need and we will do that. I just hate we miss out on players that would benefit us very well.

One thing I never doubt Oats on is roster management. We were really good last season at filling voids + stock piling depth (Cliff at 5, Youngblood at 3, Mallette as a 2 guard, and Holloway at 1). Plus Preston Murphy is still on staff and is probably as good of a recruiter as Hogdson.

I do hope we get longer guards for defensive purposes. Sears gave a ton of effort, but he was limited in terms of physicality when it comes to fighting through screens and being able to grab a defensive board.

We're really missing a Keon Ellis/Nimari Burnett type player too.

I was watching some of the high school all star festivities tonight. Duke has some studs coming in, again… AJD is a freak of nature. Louisville has a kid coming in that’s looked impressive. I haven’t seen any Bama kids yet, but they may be there just for the game tomorrow night.
