🏈 Based on the Bama fans I know, a lot are Braves fans. (Braves vs Dodgers)

While I assume you're posting in jest, I feel the need to set the record straight here. The only teams I have a vested interest in are Alabama and the Diamondbacks. Don't watch the NBA, and I hope the Lakers go bankrupt. Don't really have a favorite NFL team, but I enjoy watching (especially teams with Bammers). Don't give a damn about the Patriots, but I do find it funny that so many folks bitch about them. I'm neither for or against them (other than I hope Cam loses every game he starts). I enjoy baseball as a whole and try to get to a new stadium each summer. Yes, I enjoy the Yankees for a number of reasons but especially because George Costanza worked for them, and he's a hero of mine.

Ha ha, yes, I'm just giving you a hard time. Assistant to the Traveling Secretary?

I have to admit, that I have been a Braves fan for years. Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, Chris Chambliss, Glen Hubbard, etc. those were some of my favorites along with Cey and Garvey of the Dodgers. I probably liked individual players more than the teams though. Carlton and Schmidt on the Phillies, Sandberg and Grace of the Cubs, Parker and Stargill for the Pirates, I just loved watching the game PERIOD!!
The year that the Braves went from worst to first and lost in 7 games to the Twins, I was at BAMA and taking a 6-9pm class and it just so happened that Game 7 was to take place that night. I told the professor that I was leaving at the break to go and watch game 7 and she asked why! I told her that the Braves might not ever get there again and that I would like to see it if they do and besides, I would never use the information from your class in my profession. It was "Improving Reading and Writing at the Secondary and Junior College Level" and I have been in PE my entire career!!!

Some of the best people you know/have known are Braves fans Foshee! :)

I know, pal. Always makes me think of the back and forth ribbing I had with Bo. And I do like a couple of their players, especially Freeman. Jealous of how they've rebuilt their roster... sorta like San Diego is doing. AZ could have followed that path, but instead decide to waste money every year hoping they can somehow get past the Dodgers with average Joes. If the Braves do win, I will be happy for the legit Braves fans I know (like you) who have rooted for them for years, not just since they got good again. One thing we can all agree on though is that Joe Simpson sucks.

Ah, with you personally, not in general.

I stopped by a local sports bar Sunday and there were 30 or so watching the NY vs Dallas game. I'd guess there were 15 Dallas fans and the rest, no matter their fandom, hated Dallas.

I thought you were talking about MLB fans in general. You either like NY, or they are in your most hated list.

Wore a Bama hat to a Yankees game a while back. I got "Roll Tide's" from all over the stadium. Went to a Mets game a couple days later, I don't remember getting one there, but there was a rather fetching woman 1 section over in a Bama hat of her own. One day we need a thread on the weirdest place you ever received a "Roll Tide" from a stranger.

Yes!

I will admit, that a cousin of my wife is a huge sports fan. When he's not working, he's watching sports. Really nice guy, BUT, his favorite teams...

CFB- Notre Dame
CBB- Duke
MLB- Yankees
NFL- Steelers
NBA- Lakers

Wears their gear, the whole 9 yards....

That's a good idea. I know mine was at a booster event/dinner for UofSC when Holtz was their coach. What made it "weird" is where but moreso in the fact they were pissed off because Lou wore Notre Dame gear for his trip from Columbia to Charleston.

Grew up going to 15+ Braves games a year. Mom was from ATL and was a pretty easy drive from the Shoals. Got a bunch of autographs from.... Dale Murphy. Back when the stadium was full of fans disguised as empty seats. Those were fun times for my family. I’ve been to MLB games at 20+ stadiums the last 5-6 years, but not one at the new Braves field. I don’t hate the Braves though, just haven’t been in ATL much.

I have that poster from when I was a boy! Dale Murphy was my favorite player growing up. That's why I always wore the #3. Now my son wears #3. I tried really hard one day to take my son (he was like nine months old at the time) to a Dicks Sporting Goods in East Cobb (hour and a half drive) to get Dale Murphy to autograph the #3 Braves jersey I had made for my son. We sat in line for two hours, and they shut off the line five people in front of us (I could see Dale and almost touch him we were so close). I was devastated, and furious because I was a new father and waited in line for two hours with a nine month old. I don't give one eff about celebrities or athletes, but this meant something to me as I loved Dale Murphy as a kid and wanted to give my son something.

This being said, I did meet Dominique Wilkins in a Target in Conyers, Georgia once while shopping, and he was amazing. he waited while I ran to find a Hawks hat at Target and he waited by the front door for me to get back and signed it for my son. Not every day you run into a Hall of Famer. very solid guy. Here was the insult. I paid $25 for a hat (didn't even have any kids basketballs in stock), when I freaking make hats with my small side business!

We were walking down the Vegas strip one hot afternoon about 2005. Pete Rose was sitting at a folding table signing autographs. Wife and I walked up in him almost running in to his table as it was right in front of the Adidas store on the sidewalk. Did a double take and realized it was him. He gave me a roll tide when I looked at him and he saw my hat. I was frozen for a second, told him how much I enjoyed the few years I got to watch him play, then asked if I could get an autograph. He said sure, $60... We turned and walked off. No wonder he was sitting at he table alone and with no line. Sad for a guy that was so talented. But it was a good Roll Tide!

This may be pretty big.

I have no idea what Roberts is doing with Dustin May, but I bet he wishes he was ready to start tonight (and he could, but working out of the pen the night before isn't ideal). The one good thing about the Braves winning this series would be, it'll keep my Dodgers = UGA Football comparison intact for yet another season.

I'll leave it to "this guy" for an update here.

It hurt me a bit too, cause man, I hate the Dodgers... but I'm counting on the Rays to play well and Dave Roberts to blow it with poor managing. But, I think about those obnoxious UGA/Braves combo fans out there, and I revel in their misery. Too the actual Braves fans on this board who aren't a bunch of bandwagon jumpers, I honestly feel bad for y'all. Feel bad for Freddie Freeman too, but I do think they'll get a WS win in the next couple of years...

So funny to read reasons why people don't like teams.

Ted Turner hasn't had anything to do with the Braves since 1996.

I'm a big Braves fan and I am fortunate enough to get to attend some games each year. It was the first MLB team I ever got to see in person when we moved from Birmingham to Atlanta. The Dale Murphy/ Bob Horner era.

I am a University of Alabama Alumni and I am also a veteran. I understand the whole Jane Fonda thing, but like I said initially Ted Turner hasn't been involved with the Braves since the mid-90's. New owners, a beautiful new park, and a decent team.
