TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Three homers powered Alabama baseball to an 11-2 win over fifth-ranked Vanderbilt on Thursday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The series-opening victory moved the Crimson Tide to 31-15 on the season and 10-12 in Southeastern Conference play.

Alabama totaled 10 hits, including three home runs, and scored in five of the eight innings on Thursday. The scoring was highlighted by a pair of four-run frames in the second and eighth innings. The huge second came by way a of grand slam from Andrew Pinckney. The redshirt junior finished his night 2-for-2 with the grand slam, two walks, two runs and a team-high five RBI. The eighth included a three-run shot from Drew Williamson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored. Also homering was Ed Johnson, part of a 2-for-3 showing that included an RBI, one run and a walk.

The Tide's early offense allowed Luke Holman (6-2) to settle in for his team-high sixth win. The sophomore tossed 7.0 innings of two-run ball, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out seven across his career-high 98 pitches. He then turned the ball over to his bullpen with Alton Davis II and Braylon Myers holding Vanderbilt scoreless over the final 2.0 frames.

From Interim Head Coach Jason Jackson

"It was great to be back at home. Our fans were awesome. They really got behind the guys, and our guys feel that. Sometimes you go on the road, you got that 'you against the world' mentality, and you feed off of that. But after back-to-back weeks of (roadtrips), it was nice to be back at The Joe, nice to be back in front of our home crowd. I thought the crowd was awesome and provided an extra spark for our guys tonight."

Just got home... considering opponent and drama surrounding the team, that was easily the most fun game I've been to all season.

I know we've been down about the team this year, mainly how they are coached and with baserunning issues, but to be fair they have been close in just about every game. As you have said, we aren't far off. Maybe a new coach will breath some life into the boys and they can get over the hump.

Was really pleased to see how well Jackson managed the game last night... I've been openly down on him for a good while, but he stepped up and had zero boneheaded moves.

No Harry! We got two!!! Hope bats have plenty of hits left in them for tomorrow because they didn’t do shit tonight!!

Top 4 in the order last night combined to go 7-14, 9 RBI, 3 K, 4 BB (1 HBP). Tonight... 0-15, 7 K's, 0 BB. Vandy starter wasn't playing around tonight. Later in the game it looked like a couple of guys were pressing too, which didn't help.

You’re in big trouble when you start pressing at the plate. A borderline pitch that you can slap to the opposite field for a base bit, turns into either rolling over into a weak groundout or taking for a called 3rd strike.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball suffered a 4-1 loss to fifth-ranked Vanderbilt on Friday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide moves to 31-16 on the season and 10-13 in Southeastern Conference play.

The Commodores jumped ahead early, scoring one apiece in the second and third before adding a pair in the fifth. Alabama got one run back in the sixth on a Caden Rose solo homer but would get no closer. Vanderbilt was aided by an impressive start from Hunter Owen (4-0). The junior tossed 7.0 innings and allowed one run on two hits with nine strikeouts for the win. Nick Maldonado then closed things out in the ninth for his his sixth save of the year.

Alabama starter Garrett McMillan (1-2) suffered the loss despite a solid outing. The senior allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts across 6.0 innings of work. He was followed by Hagan Banks and Aidan Moza, who combined for 3.0 scoreless frames to keep the Tide within striking distance on the back-end.

From Interim Head Coach Jason Jackson

"This was a really well-played game tonight from both teams. Obviously, their starter was very good – Hunter Owen – he pitched great. He had all four pitches going and did a great job of kind of shutting down our offense, which has been on fire and really clicking on all cylinders. We played well, too. Garrett McMillan had a really good start, navigated through some tough innings early on, but he seemed to get better as he went. Then, Hagan Banks and Aidan Moza did a good job coming out of the bullpen and keeping the game where it was. We just couldn't ever get anything going."

Stopped by and caught the last half of the game... McNairy really stepped up! Kade Woods looked more like the Kade Woods from early SEC play, and Davis II shut the door. Pretty remarkable they were able to take 2 of 3 this weekend from anyone, much less Vandy with everything going on around them. They have a winnable (won't be easy by any means) series at Texas A&M next weekend... but the Tide is continuing to play pretty well down the stretch. Just please sweet baby Jesus, no more injuries, especially to the frontline guys.
