Someone questioned the wording of the article... because There is conflicting information on Felds whether he interviewed or not.
Has he been spoken with? I'd think, but I don't know. Saban talking to him about the position doesn't mean Saban was talking to him about the position being taken by him (geez, that's some wordsmithing!) There were three names mentioned to me a few days ago that were listed earlier in this thread. Dawson was one, Feld another, of guys that were in the mix. However, people in Tuscaloosa as well as people in Eugene have shared Feld has not interviewed for the position (through this morning.)
There's something I haven't seen mentioned around the 'net I believe is worth noting. It is mentioned, but not in this regard, in the latest article on Coleman that was shared here recently. It's been pointed to a few times in other articles but again not a lot of attention placed there.
Do you remember a few years ago when they added the building between the Mal Moore Athletic Department and Coleman? In the plans for this building campaign there's an addition of 6-7000 sq ft (additional floor) to house the science center.
It's my view the S&C program is changing directions in terms of its mental approach: moving away from brawn towards brain. Feld, as well as Dawson, meet that criteria. When I see the additional resources being built to support more sports science and see the resumes of those in the mix for the position it seems clear to me which direction Saban is moving.
As to Feld in this scenario. If I may, let me reference
@bamachine and his post earlier in this thread.
Saban made a point during his HBO show with Belichick, that he does not believe in stealing coaches from your former employer. He said he did not do so when he left Belichick and he thinks that since he does what he can to elevate his coaches, when they do get a head job, they should not then try to steal his other coaches.
Considering the terms Mario left Bama on (versus Kirby, et. al.) does this apply to Feld? I believe it to be a reasonable conclusion it does.
