Statistically, Ingram lags the other "name" offensive players in absolute statistics. Despite having two legitimate award candidates in our backfield, Saban's team approach to rushing hampers individual awards.
If this sounds familiar, think of Coach Bryant's willingness to share the carries and then dominated in the fourth quarter. Think of Johnny Musso. If Coach Bryant had ridden him like OJ or Steve Owens and given Musso 350 carries a year instead of 150 to 190, he'd have put up monster stats. In the same manner, Gerhart got the ball 90 more times than Ingram this year, so there's an inequity there because of Bama's depth and Saban's philosophy.
If Ingram or Richardson never make it back to NY, but they have rings each year I think everyone will be happy.
