How pathetic at backroom dealings do you have to be to lose a coup against a coach with no pull, no power players in his corner and no ties to the school or region?

Good lawd Auburn's money guys are idiots.

This wasn't a booster generated coup. If it was it would have been a done deal? This started with disgruntled ex-players, coaches and AD Staff members and it took off in the press. The booster wanted answers and the University provide their findings. It wasn't about money or power. If anyone is to blame it is the outgoing President and how he reacted to the rumors.

Queue damage control reports.

Orgeron can't accept a HC position in the SEC for another year or he's breaking his separation agreement with LSU (NCA.)
Yeah I was aware it was tongue in cheek comment.

Back to the Harsin story, honestly I think the guy may be a pretty good coach even though I was poking fun at him (it is the Barn so I have to). There is an if in that statement - if they let him coach and give him control. The control part of that equation is what I am banking on that will limit his success. Oh and the fact that he has to face Saban.

Well of there's any good news for auburn its that they have a lame duck coach who refuses to cheat (and now can't cheat if he wanted to because it would probably be entrapment by the aptly names Yella Fella to get him fired for cause) all while the in state senior class in the fall is going to be one of the most loaded and talented classes in recent memory. Bravo!

This right here! I'm still shaking my head. The last I looked the state has five, five stars at this point (three said to be committed to Bama.) If there wasn't so much shake up a guy like Tommarrion Parker made not head to Athens. Hell, UGA has more in state players committed than Auburn right now.

This says it all right here. The guy has ZERO ties or connections and yet the PTB still somehow botched a can't miss firing

The best part of all this... the same powerful group that wanted Harsin gone, still want him gone. In fact, they likely want him gone more now than ever since he just went Leeeroooooy Jeeeenkins and publicly teabagged them. Seems logical to think that barring a miracle season, they'll come at him with torches and pitchforks again after the '22 season... but the buyout then is still a salty $15 million. That is why there is zero doubt they will be looking for anything and everything from this point on to fire him for cause. Harsin has his work cut out for him on the field, and now, off the field in every possible way. Add to that his strongest ally, Allen Green, is also a powerless, flightless duck who is nearing the end of his auburn employment. It's just an incredible situation that only the "I believe in auburn and love it!" people could create.

"Now that we've completely undermined him and set him up for failure...good news, we're keeping him!"

I would bet money they go 5-7 and cut him loose next year. 3 easy wins in San Jose State, Mercer, and WKU. Then they got 2 SEC games they might could pull out in Miss State and Mizzou. They might get lucky and steal one from Arky, ole Miss, LSU, or Penn State. And they’re definitely going to drop to Bama, Georgia, and A&M. 4-8 is likely, 5-7 if they get lucky, and 6-6 would be their absolute ceiling.

Welcome to the cellar Aubies - you earned it.

When all is said and done the Wednesday night’s meeting Harsin had with the lawyer representing the powers-that-be turned out to be good for Harsin and bad for the PTB. It probably went something like this..
Lawyer: We’re going to give you 5 million and
keep you reputation in check and you can be on your way. If not we will make the affair a reality and down you go.
Harsin: Fine. Try and make a falsehood a realty and after all the lawsuits I’ll walk away from here with 75 - 100 million. Tell YellaMan he better sell a ton of wood.

Wonder if i am only one on here that ever went to a game that Ears coached.....
( vs GaTech...legion field)
You definitely got me beat as I thankfully missed Ears disastrous reign. God blessed me though with the Bear. interestingly enough, my first Bama game was at GT in 1964. At least the first one that I could sit in my own seat and actually understand a bit about what was happening on the field. Back then, GT was a huge rivalry game and both fan groups were really into the rivalry. My dad would get a big kick out of me yelling at the top of my lungs ā€œRoll Tideā€ whenever prompted to do so by him or my uncle. And they always prompted me to so whenever we were in a crowd loaded with GT fans.

I didn’t realize three of the five 5 Stars have committed to Bama. When did that happen … today? That’s awesome! What’s also amazing about the state’s talent level next year (other than having five - 5 Stars) is there are eleven players from Alabama high schools in the top 100!
