Fair enough. Then let me add this. Saban is ALL about recruiting, Pruitt is supposed to be a VERY good, aggressive recruiter. We lose another one of those with Kirby. Unless someone can convince me that Mel Tucker falls into the same category, I am going with Pruitt here. Let's watch Michigan, Auburn, and South Carolina for DC hires. If those spots fill soon and it's not JP, then I will repeat that it's Pruitt to Bama.
A couple of thoughts/notes:
People also considered Steele a great recruiter. Steele was one of the best evaluators in camps and with film as we've seen at UA. When it came to that "one on one, living room time" he's not that great. Good? At the right school, with the right head coach, yes.
Pruitt is a good, aggressive recruiter in the
right circumstance. The relocation of his assigned recruiting territory (Mobile area) due to him getting his ass handed to him by Dameuyne Craig is something that wasn't publicized, but the point remains he wasn't aggressive enough in the right home(s.) Saban sent Lance down to handle those kids.
Right now, well, as of last week, the assumed list is down to two—Tucker and Pruitt—with the later having the presumed inside track.
You mention Michigan ... Pruitt has been linked to that job as well as another in the B1G.
It's my suspicion, based on what Saban has done in the past, it won't be a priority until this post-season is over.
Personally, I'm not real concerned about who comes in ... history tells us we rarely see a lateral move in coaching changes under Saban. I can only think of one that just didn't work out (and there was a lot of shuffling going on when Greg left.)
