Looking at the bowl projections by ESPN I noticed the arrangements each bowl has with the various conferences. The SEC is playing behind the 8-Ball. This shoots holes in the arguments of those Bozos that cite bowl records against non-conference opponents as reasons the SEC is not the best.
Consider the following:
CAPITAL ONE -- SEC #2 VS. BIG TEN #2
OUTBACK -- SEC #3/4 VS. BIG TEN #3
COTTON -- SEC #3/4 VS. BIG 12 #2
CHICK-FIL-A -- SEC #5 VS. ACC #2
LIBERTY -- SEC #6/7 VS. C-USA #1
MUSIC CITY -- SEC #6/7 VS. ACC #5/6/7
INDEPENDENCE -- SEC #8 VS. BIG 12 #7
This gives advantages to the BIG TEN, BIG 12, ACC, and C-USA. AND, if we are superior enough to have two teams facing BCS heavies like we do this year, EVERY pairing is made one level worse as every team moves up to a tougher opponent.
