I like Horton if we do indeed get him. It's nice to have a big bodied receiver who can stress out secondaries. Lord knows we have always had to deal with them, Alshon Jeffrey, Mike Williams, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross..... these guys brutalized us at some point in their careers, our guys could not cover them.
Thereā€™s a bunch of those guys that have hurt us. Iā€™d submit Mike Evans and Travon Burks as well.

I don't think we're even looking at him, not is he interested in coming..... but I'd love for us to land Jamaal Jarret. Guy can be a game wrecker in multiple ways, especially in the running game. He's one of those lineman where you have to put multiple guys on him to slow him down once he gets going. Be nice to land him, but we seemingly aren't pursuing him from what I can see.

I shouldn't say we aren't, maybe we just haven't been able to schedule him yet for a visit. But he's one of the top players on my list, him and that Bowles kid. And after watching film of the Colorado linebacker that we're going after, I wouldn't mind getting him at all if we couldn't land Bowles, or another ILB in the portal.

Two reasons I say this.
1). I don't see any reason to get another corner in the portal if we're expecting Jackson to stay. Maybe we'll try to move him around to other positions, like Nickelback. But the guy has always played at corner, and was really good at playing there when he was at Utah. He's a physical player, so moving him to nickel wouldn't hurt him in that aspect, but there would be new responsibilities at the position he'd have to learn. And if we did do that, he'd have a whole spring and fall camp to get it down, but to go from playing outside to inside is a pretty big change to someone who's never done it. And going off how often we rotated players this season in the secondary, my point could be moot anyway.
2). He slowly been getting higher and higher draft grades. I think the average is he'll be taken in the 3rd round, but I know some have him going into the 2nd. If that gets to be the consistent consensus, then I think he leaves.

Im more than likely reading too much into this, and he does return. And if your sources are saying he is, then I'm taking your word on it. They've been right.... a lot.

My initial thought after seeing the new pick up was he'd be a good replacement for Devonta Smith. . . .

Jahlil Hurley -> Kansas-
Keanu Koht -> Vanderbilt-
DeVonta Smith -> Notre Dame-
Jehiem Oatis -> Colorado-
Kobe Prentice ->Baylor-
Naquil Betrand -> Syracuse-
Dylan Lonergan ->Boston College-
Caleb Odom -> Ole Miss
Justice Haynes-> Likely Ole Miss

That's why we will be okay.

Heard Ewers is likely not going to the league and will likely hit the portal after their season ends. His stock hasnā€™t risen this year even as theyā€™ve won their 11 games. Heā€™s underperformed a number of times.

Maybe a ridiculous NIL offer from someone would give him pause, but the scouting community is expecting him to declare this year (though his stock has dropped a good bit).
