| FTBL šŸ˜ Alabama Roster and Portal Management Chart

What's happening now would have happened five years ago. Bama going into the portal season Bama had too many scholly and had too many walk-ons. This is why I said we may see as many as 30 leave off of last year's roster.

This thread is title correctly. Management.
You recruit 5 star guys and lose starters it is hard for me to see how this is good for Bama. I will say my perception is not absolute truth just informed experience. As always I will wait and see. It seems to point to a problem but I will wait and see how CKD responds to it. I am concerned the commitment level to Bama and CKD is not what it was and it will result in reduced in program success in the future. Can we find replacements in the portal? Sure but would be better in my opinion if we did not have to if we already had the right people on campus. This could be that CKD really is keeping who he believes is bought and and who he wants to keep. I hope so but I am skeptical.

What is this based on? Did you not see the class we hauled in for Class of 2025?

We are over the roster limit, and some players has to go, so hard decisions have to be made.

WE will be fine with portal additions. We just need to be patient. IMO, this isn't just at Alabama, its' schools across the board with same issues. We still have opportunities to connect with the 12 teams that's in playoff, and we might be able to snag few players from them. It's about the right fit for offense/defense, not necessary who's popular pick.

On the part on recuiting 5 star guy and then lose starters.... How many times have you seen 5 star not working out and then transfer and struggle somewhere. It's very rare to see players who leave Alabama and actually does well. I think Bond, Downs, Mclaughlin and Brooks are having good season, but rest didn't have ag reat season.

I also don't think we lost but one starter to the portal, I might be wrong... And then on top of that, we have players choosing to play in bowl game, so that tells me that culture is still there at Alabama. The future is bright, and So far, CKD is doing his job.

I think People look at what you wrote, and then they read the first sentence: " What's happening now would have happened five years ago." They stopped reading after that.

Informed experience into what, exactly?

No one has experience, much less informed experience, into next season. A lot of rules and regulations were just changed. No one has done this before.

IMO, one simple adjustment needs to be made to the transfer portal. Go back to the old rule. You transfer youā€™re out for a year.
I don't believe that will work largely due to the settlement along with how they are restructuring (attempting) how players are paid. I can see that being a violation of employment law going against free trade, so to speak. IE: A school would be limiting their rights in free market society. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

We tried to make it sound like Downs leaving last year was no big deal Losing players like Downs is a big deal. Some of these guys we are losing are really good players. Haynes, Smith and Odom are the main ones I am thinking about. In this new portal world maybe it turns out to be a don't care but I just do not like the insanity of NIL and the portal, A commitment should mean something.... Having an opportunity to play for Bama should be special and mean something. That is my opinion as a lifelong Bama fan. I hate this me generation that puts themselves above the Bama program.

Downs was a big deal optics wise, but had very little impact on the field. Inhated it because he was a good ball player that would have bolstered a team going through transition, but I have learned to just wait and see and complain after the fact, ha ha.

Haynes, Smith and Odom.. out of all of them, who's the best fit for CKD for the program? Culture wise ? Scheme fit? Leadership wise.

Think about it.

Downs only came to Alabama because of Saban and that was only reason. We were never gonna hold on to him. I didn't like how Downs handled Saban retirement and transfer portal, but I wish him well and he'll be just fine at Ohio state. I've enjoyed watching him play with Ohio state.

Guys going into the transfer portal is not just limited to Alabama. It's happenening everywhere with 5 stars too.

AND this was CKD first year. Implementing scheme is an issue & some guys just don't take to it. And if their instinct is to leave, then let them go. We only want guys who want to be here & believe in what's being built.

All I hope for is that C Morgan & CKD keep recruiting at a high level to message the entire roster that we are playing guys who want to be here. PERIOD. We aren't going to be leveraged by some hugh NIL payout or threat. This is NOT the place for you if you do. And everyone is replaceable. . . . . especialy primadona cancers.
