šŸˆ GAME THREAD A-Day: 2018

Saban always says best player plays . If that’s so , no way Jalen is ahead of Tua . Heck , Jones looked more a college QB while Jalen looked liked the deer in the headlights coming from high school into division one .

This scrimmage was set up for Jalen to shine . Tua not playing was a god send . With the defense playing pretty vanilla he just couldn’t come up with a couple of big plays to get the win .

We all know A-Day is just a vanilla scrimmage, but I just didn't see any improvement in Jalen. It appears to me there hasn’t been any improvement in decision making, making his reads, etc. But, with that said I’m not about to write the kid off or guarantee that he wont be the starter.

I Feel compelled to say something nice about Bulovas. Nothing wrong with the way he set up and followed through on all his kicks. Shoutout to our new ST coach Jeff Banks. The DL is perhaps the area that made me smile all day. Coach Kool is an aggressive DL coach and he has a talented group on the rise. Quinnen Williams, Raekwon Davis along with Buggs and Ray are going to be something else.

Yeah @TUSKstuff, I wish they had swapped the QB's after halftime. Put MJ with the ones and JH with the twos, just to see if it made a difference in the QB's play. Our probable first team defense was whipping our probable first string OL .

Didn't they do that some last year? Would have been nice to see Mac Jones work with the first team a little. Especially given that the defense is always ahead in the spring.

I think they left Hurts with the 1’s hoping something positive would happen. Some play or decision that would indicate a light going off. It didn’t.
Article by Michael Casagrande (he was on the sideline) yesterday mentioned Hurts’ demeanor coming off the field after the late pick...emotionless and seemingly unphased, says a lot to me.

"Emotionless and unphased" is Hurts' M.O. There were several times in 2017 (Ole Miss sack, fumble for TD) where he demonstrated this. While most of us would show frustration and visible rah-rah, Hurts just goes about his business. I'm not faulting him for this, just mentioning it. He stays calm and talks to players about moving forward.
