Devan Thompkins (Dline)

His visit was today

Has Auburn, Clemson and Georgia on his radar. Bama hopes to get him before he takes officials elsewhere.

Stayhorn (IOL)

Also had a visit today

Another one Bama wants to wrap up before he takes any other officials. Looks like he's being recruited as a guard in the system. There's a tie here I didn't realize, his dad played for Nick Saban at Michigan State previously. I knew the Michael Carroll tie in.

Other Notes from Other Places as of Today:

Cam Coleman

Setting up a visit to Texas Tech, just finished his visit with the Aggies and Longhorns (Expected to arrive at tech on Wednesday) Rumors had it he'd make a surprise trip to Bama today, but I haven't heard anything on that and I don't believe anyone else has either. The plan was always for him to close on a trip to Bama Thursday or Friday. Texas and TAMU mods are already hedging their bets they both think Bama is the front runner since $$ isn't a big factor. Everyone seems to be in the same ballpark on NIL offers that I've seen so far (May change with Texas Tech throwing around 4-5 mil tomorrow)

Jacarius Peak

Took a trip to TAMU, Bama still trying to get in on his official visit. Nothing I've heard points to him jumping into bed with the Aggies just yet, I think he'll take another visit or two hopefully one of those is to Bama.

Jimothy Lewis

Visit went very well, Bama seems to be in the drivers seat, trying to close him down before he takes other visits

DJ Chester

Will be taking a visit soon, another possible inside piece or depth piece. Played as the 6th man for LSU this year coming in anywhere to fill in. He'll be visiting Thursday

Adam Watford

UNA Punter has had his name floated around lately as Bama seems to be highly interested in bringing him on board. Looking at his stats he averaged 46.6 yards per punt and a few of those were over 70 yards (3)

Malik Blockton

Interest is there, Bama reached out for a visit, seems both sides have interest, this one may move fast.

Apparently as I was writing this things changed for Coleman. Tech looks like they're on the outside now, likely won't get a visit he's coming to Bama tonight to visit tomorrow. To clarify this isn't fully confirmed Brett Greenberg of 247 has it behind the paywall.

EDIT: Okay, it's how I figured. Nakos confirmed that Coleman and his reps are preparing to visit Tech tomorrow and will be visiting Bama later in the week. 247 and Greenberg must've gotten some bad info here.

I know a wr is only as good as his qb and oline, but let your mind wonder for a minute. If he came to Bama, line Coleman up on the outside with Williams on the other side………

Saw where Brooks got a deal with “Yea Alabama” today too.

Line that squirrelly thing up in the slot……..

Oh boy, makes this ole ground and pound guy consider throwing it 10 times a game

I honestly believe if Coleman comes to Bama no matter who the QB is will at least get to NYC if not win the damn thing

Is this guy any good? I know we went after him before he went to Michigan.
He's projecting to be, don't know that he starts next year but we shall see. Depends what Bama thinks of his development. I haven't watched any tape on him don't think he has any college tape yet anyways. I think he's likely a replacement for depth this year with a chance of starting next year.

Will probably start out at center but he at least has some flexibility to play other spots if needed (or for depth reasons). Played RG in Michigan's bowl game vs. Texas and struggled but that's sorta life as a true freshman if you play on the OL. If Michigan liked him and signed him though, that's a pretty good indicator for his potential. For all of Sherrone Moore's issues, he knows offensive linemen. Size wise, he fits the mold of what DeBoer wants on the interior.

Quick note on Caleb Woodson... reached out to someone who is a little familiar with him and VT... they said he should fit Wommack's defense very well on the field and is a "team leader". Solid tackler, solid in coverage. Said despite a DUI arrest while at VT his freshman year, he's a high character guy and all business on Saturday's. They were not surprised that Bama wanted him and liked the pickup.

I think he’s a big get for us. As soon as he announced he was coming to UA a buddy of mine that’s an alumni and played for the Hokies texted almost the same thing. Pretty happy about this. Been a good transfer portal for our staff so far

if he comes here it's because he wants to play here.... we won't be matching $$$$ with TT, TaM, UT.
I know this has been touched on briefly. The biggest difference is in how the deal is going to be structured, not the total payout in the end.

Just another example of how wild this era is in college football.

Step back five years and you'll remember so many talking about 'look at what the coach is paid' while screaming 'pay the players."

Now, we're looking at Bama shaping their NIL deals based as much on incentives/production. And, we're at the beginning of seeing new hires for head coaching positions start to flip to more incentive based contracts.

Strangely enough, it mirrors the transition period from Perkins to Curry and Bill's contract with UA.
