🏈 2026 Alabama Roster Management Chart and Portal news

A little dive into the numbers on Hollywood Smothers...

-Zero fumbles on 160 carries this season. 1 fumble on 88 carries last season.

-The last 2 seasons, he has 44 runs of 10+ yards on 248 carries. Alabama only had 42 of those this season on 466 carries.

-This past season, on 78 carries, he averaged 6.8 yards up the middle in the 1-4 gaps. For a smaller guy, that's making shit happen.

-In 2024, on 52 carries, he averaged 7.4 yards up the middle in the 1-4 gaps. Maybe we should hire their OL coach too?

-He's a good receiver out of the backfield... 19 grabs for 263 yards (13.8 YPC), 2 TD's and 1 drop in 2024. For some reason, this past season, he nearly doubled his catches, but his total yardage was less... 37 receptions for 189 yards (5.1 YPC) with 1 TD and no drops.
44 carries over 10+ yards on only 248 total carries. holy crap!

Lol.

I think that's the only oline/special teams player that didn't poop the bed this past season. I can't remember us having a botched snap on a field goal or punt. We might have, just can't remember anything significant.

There were several bad snaps early and midseason... I can't remember if it was from just the 1 or both guys, I think both. But there were some shitty snaps, especially on FG attempts. It's not too often you see a LS replaced in season unless he's hurt, but we saw Bama use both. Things got better after the Talty miss/dust up though.

Losing James Smith hurts, as of now. I was sorta hoping when he didn't enter yesterday after Russaw that Bama might be in the clear... but that was wishful thinking. Just have to wait and see who all they get when the smoke clears, but I don't love long that experience and talent. He was very inconsistent for sure, but his ceiling is really high. And while he was a knucklehead, what I liked about him most of all, he was a bit of an enforcer. People complain about the lack of physicality, he'd get after it when the switch was turned on. Hell, after games when guys were shaking hands and praying, he was usually looking for a fight. Every team needs a couple of those guys, IMO. On the other hand, Bama has to be responsible with how much they pay... they are already in a position where they are going to have to overpay to some extent to get some DL and OL... but there's always a line drawn somewhere.

Maybe the first Oklahoma game? Bad snap messed the timing up on a field goal or something? Can’t remember

This from Bama247:
Tuesday, January 6

1:15 p.m. CT: Bama247 is no longer ruling out an Alabama visit for No. 1 receiver Cam Coleman for later this week. Has taken trips to Texas and Texas A&M, while Texas Tech is up next. We shall see.
if he comes here it's because he wants to play here.... we won't be matching $$$$ with TT, TaM, UT. I don't really care where he plays, as long is it's not aU.

Yes, that was the one where he got pissy with the long snapper, but there were some leading up to that... I think when he missed that kick though, he hit his boiling point over it. To his credit, from the auburn game on (after fans wrote him off) he was solid as could be. And the snapping issues were much better too, although that's after they swapped them out (for the 2nd time).
