🏈 2025 NFL Draft Thread

You know thinking about this from an employee/employer standpoint. Employers will give a job to a difficult employee IF he is really good at what he does. If you are going to be difficult to manage you dang well better be worth it. Pretty simple to me the owners do not think he is good enought for that kind of hassle. If they did he would already be off the board.
I should have made a caveat here that I honestly know nothing about Sanders other than he is Deons son. He may be a great kid no idea but it seems like there is something going on that folks shied away from. Was it ability, external baggage or other? No clue only speculation.

It was a number of things that added up... On the field, he has really bad mechanics and footwork. He takes too many sacks and forces throws into coverage. Forcing throws often times worked out for him at Colorado, but won't in the NFL. But the big problem(s) were in other areas... First off, he didn't hire an agent and made terrible decisions because of it. For starters, he committed to playing in the Shrine Bowl, which now rivals the Sr. Bowl in terms of its importance to the draft. Instead of playing, he backed out and showed up to do an interview instead. That rubbed a lot of teams the wrong way. Then at the combine, he again elected to not do the workouts. That was a mighty bold, and stupid, move for a guy who was fighting to regain lost draft stock. He did interviews though, which didn't serve him well... again, causing teams to drop him on their boards. Finally, at this pro day, he was sloppy and didn't even finish some of the drills. Yet another unforced error and terrible look for teams to digest. On top of all of that, his helicopter dad loomed and basically admitted that he will be a distraction to whatever team chose his kid if they didn't use him correctly. And when your dad is Deion Sanders who can generate headlines anytime he speaks, not some average Joe who doesn't have an amplified voice, it matters. A lot. NFL coaches and front offices don't like outside distractions.

So basically, it was a number of issues and bad decisions that snowballed over the last year or so.

Those who understand football would say that.

Those who doesn't understand football would blame it on NFL colluding against him because he's black and confident.

First off, he didn't hire an agent

his helicopter dad loomed
In my view I believe this is it, right here.

He didn't have an agent. So, NFL GM's are looking at dealing with him and his dad when it comes to contract negotiations and all that comes with these proceedings.

I can't escape a thought. The coverage with Sanders is eerily reminiscent of the coverage of Hillary. She was supposed to win...he was supposed to be a top pick ... and then the media screams about being wrong.

Just my opinion, but based on what I have read and heard I wonder if the problem with Sanders is his maturity. He's definitely arrogant, but that's not a bad thing in a QB. He's tough, accurate, and has a good arm. But is he a leader? Will the other men on the team follow him? He's been under Deion's thumb his whole life and thus he's always had someone to protect him from himself. Perhaps in all of those interviews the NFL GMs realized that this kid was not mature enough, and he's not a Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson. So they said pass.

The first time he win a game in the NFL, and he goes over to the fan base. Do what I have seen him do, the next time he faces that team again. His head will be, on the other team sight. Also first time he put his hand on a referee. He has done all of these.
