| MBB/WBB đźŹ€ 2024-25 Pre-season - Tide opens the season Monday night

We had a similar thread last year, and like it, I will update this one with the movement as it happens and next season's roster takes shape. Obviously, all the players in red that are set to return, won't. And others will be added via the portal. But I'll keep this updated and keep track of it as it all unfolds. As always, let me know of any errors/mistakes.

Also, keep in mind, there are 13 scholarship spots available per season. As of now, Alabama is +2 (15 scholarshipped players), which means at a minimum, 2 of the following will not return.

If I had placed at bet the day after Bama's loss to UConn, my money would have easily been on him coming back too. But there's a lot going on in terms of reshaping the roster for next season... I'd caution some to be patient and see how it plays out without rushing to too much judgement on some that may be leave (not that you did, that's just a general statement).
Take another look and tell me how well he fits with the system Oats pushes.

With Walters I look over to RG leaving and see Sam didn't play defense at that level. Athleticism? He's not snatching half-dollars off backboards, ya know? When they are running what's his role? Sort of "lagging" behind for the late kick-out for 3?

I've developed an attitude that's "just go do your thing." His thing? I don't see it as being a player in a P6 world. I can see him getting significant playing time at mid-major.

I just based it on how much he played as a FR... and his defense was very raw, but was improving, or appeared to be. A lot of the decisions being made right now are being made by the analytic #'s and future projections. They'd certainly have plenty of data on him to give them the info they want... and while even Oats said publicly that he was the best spot up shooter on the roster this year, I'd imagine those numbers had a low ceiling on projections coupled with not great numbers in other areas. He was also a kid that was going to give the staff zero issues... so replacing him can be a risk there too, but I'm not sure that's taken into much account honestly.

I guess Wague and Dioubate are giving Oats something he wants, that's not the two I'd have picked to keep a spot continuing to next year. I felt like Walters had done enough considering his youth, to find a spot in the lineup as well. Maybe that will still change, but figured we might bring in 2 big men and drop Wague/Pringle
