Changing the subject a bit ...

Did anyone else find it weird seeing the "Halftime Show brought to you by Tic-Toc" on ESPN while, right now, we have states who've banned the app and Congress debating doing so as well?

I was going to be flippant and ask what was the hubbub over breath mints...

Several years ago, you had Draft Kings and the other sports betting app advertising nationally before they got 50-State clearance. You still can't use one of them in SC, correct? Sometimes it's easier to just advertise nationwide even when your product/service isn't such. Plus, who knows when that halftime show sponsorship deal was struck, could've predated a good portion of their legislative troubles.

The world is full of those inconsistencies. You can buy cigarettes but can't advertise them on TV. You can advertise beer on TV, but you can't drink it during the commercial.

Yes, you're right...but then again, not really right. You can use a Sportsbook like the one FanDuel offers through a VPN. It's not worth the trouble when you can find someone to take your "action" locally.

Several years ago you asked about bartending in the area since a friend of yours was moving to the area. I mentioned they were available, but she'd have to understand we were running machines. That's against SC law, but it's adjudicated it's much like a speeding ticket: small fine, slap on the wrist.

It's no different with placing and accepting wagers on football games unless it's on a major scale. SLED spends more time worrying about poker games than they do wagering on sports.

And speaking of which...here's what I consider to be another "head scratcher."

I could bet you $100 per game on FanDuel Fantasy and it's perfectly legal in SC. To me, it's a little weird I can bet any amount through their games and get paid and that's somehow different than placing a C-note on a team to cover the spread.

Saw that too a few post back... guess it's one of those "nothing to see here" things.
:p

Tik-Tok bans so far have been only on government devices. That is because it siphons location and other data and sends it almost directly to the Chinese government. For individuals that probably is not a big deal but for government employees it is. In most modern phone OS you can cut that crap off anyway at the OS level except when you need them for posting a video.

One word explains it all. Disney. Would be at the top of my Woke Companies in the World list.

I wonder how happy the bean counters at Duke's are as they hear so many players, coaches, and the talking heads badmouth mayonnaise.
Yeah....Mayo is a southern thing, like grits and sweet tea, you're not getting a warm fuzzy endorsement eating a macaroon dunked in mayo....eat a fresh homegrown 'mater on a sammich with some black pepper and salt and then we'll talk. 😁

I did a quick google search on states eating the most mayo and it turns out Russia consumes the most in the world. I support Ukraine, so I closed off any further inquiry. 🙃

Without looking, I'm guessing Louisiana tops the mayo in the country...Blue Plate is about all you see down there...of course Duke's is a Carolina staple.

Yeah, truth. I see Hellman's occasionally and it's normally from a carpetbagger.

Ever heard this old line? “I asked my homegrown tomatoes. They said Duke’s and frankly looked a little offended at the question.”

That being said, I have a jar of Sir Kensington's in the 'fridge... 🤤
