Some insight into why they're going to spend more on Holgorsen.

"We're down 7,000 season tickets since Herman left. It's not Major's fault, but that's almost $3 million a year, just in tickets. So everybody's like, 'How can you afford this?' I'm like, 'How can I not?'" (Holgorsen's deal will pay him an average annual salary of $4 million, a difference of $2.25 million from the $1.75 million per year Houston was paying Applewhite, according to USA Today.)

Snicker, chortle, guffaw! No, I don't expect Smart to leave Athens.

The NFL coaching carousel season has officially begun, and several teams are looking to replace recently fired coaches.

One team in particular, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, could be looking to the SEC to find the next leader of their struggling franchise.

Per a report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Bucs are interested in speaking with Georgia coach Kirby Smart about their opening:

The allure of (Nick) Saban and his accomplished assistants is significant at a time when many candidates for jobs lack the proven ability to assemble a staff and manage a game and personalities the way he has. In particular, sources said that Tampa Bay’s ownership – still hopeful of making a splash – would be interested in speaking to Georgia coach Kirby Smart, a former Saban assistant.
Smart is a Georgia alum, so it would be difficult to lure him away from his alma mater, but could the NFL be that opportunity?

Don’t expect Smart to leave Athens anytime soon, but with the work he’s doing at Georgia, don’t expect the NFL interest to stop soon, either.

Just catching up on this thread from the holidays

Lawd this would be Chaney’s 12th stint at 10rc wouldn’t it?

OU with a panic hire at DC in my opinion. Smacks of ā€œjust do something even if it is wrongā€

I think Holgerson was encouraged to pursue other avenues

Did I see something about somebody thinking Lance Thompson was coming back?
