| GAME THREAD 2018-'19 National Title game: Alabama versus Clemson

It has been said numerous times but I agree that Sunshine is not the mobile threat that tends to give us issues. He is fairly accurate but they are a different offensive team this year compared to two ago. Very good D, especially front line (sort of a given). Comes down to how well we play on our offensive line to me.

How do you figure that?

In the 1st half we had two drives we didn’t score a TD... one was a FG one was a punt.

In the 2nd half we had two drives we did not score a TD. One was a Punt, the other was taking a knee at end of game.

So where was the foot taken off the gas?
He's got a point if you look at the fifth drive and the call gets made for PI. There's an additional four point. The sixth drive had the three penalities and the TD called back. That falls differently and you're now looking at 11 points left on the field.

Some are having an issue with "let the foot off offensively" and that may just be the terminology. They certainly took the air out starting in the second quarter and went with a more methodical approach. Even though it only resulted in a total of three points the 12 minutes taken off of the clock in the last drive of the first half and the first drive of the second dictated a lot in that game. the seven minute drive to end the first half...game was essentially over.

There's a distinct different in top of possession per drive in the second half as compared to the first. The offense was still moving the ball, but the methodology was certainly different.

It was the intensity and aggression we came out with. We had a mindset to run them off the field and that's what we were doing, literally. They were confused, disoriented and discombobulated in general. That's what happens when you get punched in the mouth and it queue's a lot of emotions you hadn't planned on. Taking the air out of the ball is always an option that we can implement anytime. Keeping the foot on the gas means we look like Mike Tyson when he got an opponent wobbling, you go for the kill. We decided once up by 4 scores to start boxing.

Exactly.

Great analogy..

It could've been over in 2-3 rounds with a kill shot..

How do we match up to Clemson this year? We still need to beat the shit out of that Renfrow! I would like to see some body clean his clock!

The only thing I see much different in clemson this year compared to last year is the better QB.

Our offense is much better than last year and our defense is as good as last year but not as deep.

The clemson QB is taller than k Murray so his passes won’t be so overthrown, out of the reach of our DBs. We’ll have 2 or 3 interceptions to give the ball back to our offense this game.

Looking through my crimson colored glasses, we’re going to kick their ass or asses as it may be.

I believe we will mop the floor with this Clemson team. They no longer have Desuan Watson. Current QB is a better passer than Kyler Murray but not nearly as good of a runner. If Surtain and the safeties can cover well enough.....92 and 99 get the pressure and this tall lanky QB can not escape like Kyler Murray. Turn up the blitz packages and watch the picks come in and the sacks happen. Bama wins Big!

This game will come down to how successful Bama's DB's can attempt to cover Clemson's large receivers. You can bet your sweet azz they're going to throw up high and see who comes down to the ball in addition to drag routes with the former walk-on all night long. Bama's DL has to stop the running game from the get go. Make note because there will be a quiz.

At worst, I see this playing out a lot like our game w/ Chokie in the 1st half.

However, Sunshine just ain't the dual-threat that Murray is, or even his Clempsum predecessors. Nowhere near.

Tosh has our dogs pin their ears back, and it's a long night for Sunshine.

Alabama is the higher ranked team (home) and will wear Crimson against the Clemson Tigers in the National Championship game in Santa Clara, California.

The winner of this game will be invariably be called the GOAT of college teams. Compared to the Dolphins by virtue of the 15 - 0 record

I realize this is a very dead horse but....

Seen about a 15-20 punters in these bowl games that would start for a program that is playing for its 6th national championship in 10 years. I just don’t understand. #1 recruiting classes year after year and our punter had 2 punts for 56 yards Saturday night. Long according to stats was 34yrds. I don’t remember the 22 yarder??

Fortunately Klempsin doesn’t have significantly better kickers than Bama so perhaps special teams are even??

The 22 yard punt was his last punt. He was trying to take it to the sideline to prevent a return (our plan) but he miss hit and the ball went left much quicker than planned. It is amazing that the punting hasn't cost Bama games but the fact #13 is able to generate punts thus we don't have to kick as much as in years pass. I doubt there is a team in the state of Alabama (all colleges) that have a punter as bad as The King.
