| GAME THREAD 2018-'19 National Title game: Alabama versus Clemson

Tuesday Insider Report (Clemson week) | BamaInsider.com

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama worked outside Tuesday as it held its first practice in preparation for next week’s national championship game against Clemson. Players were dressed in shorts and shirts and worked in 61-degree weather. Here are some notes from the media viewing period.

— Christian Miller (hamstring) did not participate in drills with the rest of the outside linebackers. Miller suffered a hamstring injury during the third quarter of last week’s 45-34 victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl and did not return to the game. Following the game, he was seen moving gingerly on crutches in Alabama’s locker room. Tuesday, Miller wore a hamstring-support strip on his left leg.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban referred to Miller as “questionable” during an appearance on ESPN earlier in the day. Miller was replaced by Jamey Mosley during the Orange Bowl.

“Everybody admires Christian’s hard work and the things that he did for this program,” linebacker Mack Wilson said. “So, I hope he’ll be able to come back to play his last game at the university.”

— Outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who briefly missed time during the Orange Bowl, had an ice pack wrapped to his left calf during practice. He was still able to lead the unit in drills and was followed by Mosley, Terrell Lewis, Ben Davis, Eyabi Anoma and Jarez Parks.

— Lewis (ACL) continued to wear a brace on his right knee and participated in drills as the outside linebackers. He made a good play on a ball when the unit was working on coverage drills.

— Christopher Allen (ACL) was not present during the viewing period. He travelled with the team for the Orange Bowl and had been participating in drills with the rest of the linebackers.

— Alabama’s three suspended players — offensive linemen Deonte Brown and Elliot Baker and tight end Kedrick James — were all at practice.

— Lester Cotton, who filled in for Brown at left guard during the Orange Bowl, left practice briefly but looked to be fine. Freshman Emil Ekiyor filled in at left guard during his absence.

— Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (ankle) did not seem limited during practice

Ummm... This ain't good...

They are replacing the turf... It was always expected to be "new" for the NCP game. I think the media is trying to make something outta nothing...

The Details Of Prepping Levi's Stadium For College Football Playoff's Championship

Forbes December 3rd article said:
The field itself requires careful consideration. From the Pac-12 Championship game on Nov. 30 to three home 49ers games in December to the Redbox Bowl on Dec. 31, the playing surface will garner heavy use. That’s one reason you can expect new turf for the CFP Championship, as is done every year.

The new turf, a hybrid Bermuda and perennial ryegrass, has grown for almost a year at California’s West Coast Turf. Growing on plastic, it can get harvested easily and without root disturbance for a two-and-a-half-day installation. The process of fitting the new turf inside Levi’s Stadium will start immediately following the Dec. 31 Redbox Bowl.

Two interesting call outs that Brad made.
  1. Trevor Lawrence's accuracy ranks 112th nationally in completion percentage under pressure when not blitzed.
  2. There have been almost 11,000 FBS games played since ESPN has been tracking FPI (2005). There have only been two games where both teams had an FPI over 31. 2005 Rose Bowl between Texas & USC and this years CFP Championship between Alabama & Clemson.

From ESPN Site: The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

James Spann just noted that there's a possibility of (more than just) rain during the game. They'll have a more definite idea of the weather pattern tomorrow afternoon. Just...Take that FWIW.

FWIW, it cost more to attend the UA Alumni tailgate than it does to attend the game. (Responses to this tweet are entertaining.)

Imagine Dragons I kinda like, not sure bout 'Weezy tho...

A friend of mine brought up the halftime entertainment a few days ago and mentioned how much he sees people hate on soccer...a game that doesn't have these "spectacles."

BTW, thought about you at lunch today when I realized I didn't mention this to you the other day. I had lunch at Bill Murray's place today (yeah, that Bill Murray.) They rotate five trucks in and out everyday. Banh Mi killed it...dayum good sandwich.

Are these guy good or what! Because I have never heard of these guys till the playoff? So I guess I will be listing to them and Lil Wayne for the first time. :D

You must not be riding around in a 78 Monte Carlo on 24's

I had a 76 Monte Carlo but it had 15's on it! You think I'm going paid more for the wheels than the car itself!!

They had a couple singles that I liked about 5 years ago. "Radioactive", and "Demons".

Now, this is probably the main reason ESPN booked them- they already had a contract with them for this song, which ESPN chose to be their college football /GameDay theme song this season.

On the Lil' Wayne thing: if they do something with him like this (from 2014 with Kendrick Lamar, which I thought was pretty badass), then it might be pretty damn good.
