Hope it works out for him but, honestly, I never saw in him what many others did. He was a fine player but I'd take Andre or Carpenter over him any day.

I thought he was taller ;)

Catch Seastrunk's numbers - 41.5" vertical and a broad jump of 11'2"...impressive.

Yeah. He didn't run the 40 he expected, says he can run a 4.3. I don't care honestly, he's got vision and quickness. Idk how he would translate to a system where he would be asked to run more north-south, but I think he could do it. He's a good back.

Cyrus Kouandjio*, T, Alabama: 6-7, 322. Third-year junior and two-year starter at LT. "Talented guy but still very raw," one scout said. "Still makes raw mistakes. He's got more up side than Matthews. I think he is smart. Just doesn't have much football background." Blew out his ACL as true freshman in '11. Ran poorly (5.59) and bench-pressed poorly (21). Long arms (355/8). "Outstanding pass protector," a second scout said. "You're talking about a left tackle for a long, long time."

Michael Sam owns his moment at the scouting combine

“Good afternoon. My name is Michael Sam, and I play football for the University of Missouri. As you may know, Missouri is the ‘Show Me State,’ and I think I’ve shown you guys enough in the past couple of weeks. But I’m learning about the media, and you guys still want more, so ask your questions, and I’ll answer them the best I can.”

It’s now very, very clear that Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam knew precisely what he was doing when he announced, before the scouting combine, that he would be the first openly gay draft prospect in NFL history. He had a concise idea what the ramifications would be, and he somehow inherently knew that he was ready to take this definitive and historic step forward. Somehow, he knew that he was the right man for that job.

And when he took the podium at the scouting combine on Saturday afternoon, Sam was as honest, poised and intelligent as you’d imagine. He was an ideal representative to break new ground.

“No, not at all,” he said, when asked if he’s worried about the reactions from teammates, opponents or fans. “I’ve been getting a lot of great positives from all kinds of fans. And when I’m on the field, I really don’t focus on fans. I’m focused on my responsibilities, such as the guy across from me.”

And when asked if he’d be okay if the Miami Dolphins selected him, he was clear that he — ironically enough — refused to discriminate. Even though the Dolphins organization has many more dings on it than Sam does … no matter what your beliefs may be.

“If the Miami Dolphins drafted me, I would be proud to be part of that organization,” he said. “But I’m not afraid of going into that environment. I know how to handle myself, I know how to communicate with my teammates, I know how to communicate with my coaches, and any other staff.”

Sam told me from the podium that he did not notice any difference in the reactions of his teammates in the locker room or elsewhere, and if that’s true … well, there’s still the point that his teammates then already knew him. And from all accounts, Sam is as high-character a person as you’ll see on a football team. He’s never been in any kind of trouble with the law, he appears to play at the top end of his potential, and the way he’s gone about this process speaks very highly of his maturity and intelligence.
What happens when he gets in an NFL locker room with people who don’t know him, and tend to be a bit rough on rookies under the most comfortable of circumstances? That’s a story we’ll have to see play out. But the amazing thing about the public perception of Sam’s orientation is the number of people who knew on the Missouri campus, and what a fuss it wasn’t until Sam announced it publicly.

“Everyone could be normal around me,” Sam said. “We would joke around, because it’s a brotherhood and it’s a family. We can say things to each other, and there’s no harm. We don’t draw blood. It’s all fun and games. A good portion of the student body knew, and word did get out, but we protect one another at Mizzou, I guess.”

Sam said that he’s been training for the combine — “missing in action” as he called it — so he’s not fully aware of the media reaction. Now, he wants it to be as much about the game as it possibly can be, though he seems to understand the size of the can he opened. He said that he has no endorsements, though one imagines that will change soon in some form or fashion.

The real problem with Sam is not how he handles himself — it’s quite clear that he’s able to deal with whatever he’ll need to. The problem is that, when you switch on the tape, Sam appears to be a third-day talent. And when it comes to the level of hype and attention that will inevitably circle around him, Sam may be more of a risk than if he were a sure-fire first-round prospect.

But outside of that sphere, it’s become very clear that just as Jackie Robinson was the right person to carry his cause into the sporting world for an infinite number of reasons, Michael Sam chose himself to do this, and he was absolutely correct in doing so.

2014 NFL combine: Mack, Barr raise stakes with stellar numbers

Khalil Mack and Anthony Barr spiced up speculation that one of the two outside linebackers could leap defensive end Jadeveon Clowney as the top defensive player in the 2014 NFL Draft with strong all-around workouts.
Both players jumped early with rolling starts that were whistled before a retry.

Mack (4.65 seconds) was a tick faster than Barr (4.66) when the NFL released their hybrid or "official" times Monday afternoon.

NFLDraftScout.com's Rob Rang said following the Senior Bowl that Mack was beginning to be mentioned in No. 1 pick conversation with some teams.
It would be a massive leap for Mack, who was offered college scholarships by only Buffalo and Liberty. He had 10.5 sacks as a senior, including a dominant lashing of Ohio State right tackle Jack Mewhort.

He is powerful and twitchy-explosive -- see his unofficlal 1.56-second 10-yard split. Mack put up 23 reps of 225 pounds, a 10-foot-8 broad jump and 40-inch vertical. Clowney had better results only in the 40-yard dash (4.53 official).
To compare Mack to a first-round pass rusher of recent vintage, Clay Matthews (26th overall, Packers) had 23 reps, 10-1 broad jump and 1.49-second 10-yard split on a 4.62-second 40. His vertical was 35 1/2 at the combine, 35 at his pro day.

Alabama junior All-American linebacker C.J. Moseley, the top-ranked inside linebacker in the draft and NFLDraftScout.com's 16th-ranked player overall, did not run but participated in position drills.

Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier did not run Monday. He projects to be one of the fastest at the position. He did put up 25 reps of 225 and a 42-inch vertical as a scouting combine parting gift.

Barr (6-4 7/8, 255 pounds) isn't a seasoned defensive player having coverted at UCLA from running back. He was disappointing with 15 reps of 225 on Saturday but had strong overall athletic testing numbers.

[h=1]Adam Muema: God told me to leave[/h]http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2014/story/_/id/10510240/adam-muema-says-god-told-leave-nfl-scouting-combine

Running back Adam Muema left the NFL scouting combine Sunday because he says God told him to do so.

Muema, a former star at San Diego State, told U-T San Diego on Sunday that he was "following God" by deciding not to work out.
Muema said God told him he would play for the Seattle Seahawks -- his "dream" -- if he skipped the combine.
"[God] told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace," Muema told the U-T.
NFL teams knew of Muema's decision to leave, the U-T reported. The 21-year-old will still have a chance to work out in front of NFL teams at San Diego State's pro day next month.
Muema is ranked as the 24th-best running back by ESPN's Scouts Inc. The NFL Draft Advisory Board graded him as a fourth to seventh-round pick, according to U-T San Diego.
He ran for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns last season and declared for the draft after his junior season.

As impressive as Clowney’s 40 was, Pitt DT Aaron Donald’s 4.65 at 285 may be just as impressive. Lit it up at Senior Bowl too.

Donald described himself as a 3-technique as well, but he has experience playing all over the line.

"In college, I played different positions," he said. "I played nose tackle, I played in a three-man front as a 5-tech, I played 3-tech, so I moved around in college a lot. So being versatile the way I am, I feel like that's a plus for me."

[h=2]ASU’s Will Sutton weighs in on NFL future at scouting combine[/h]
At 303 pounds, Will Sutton could not be accurately describe as trim, but the former Arizona State defensive linemen looked much different at the NFL scouting combine this week than he did last season. He’s 17 pounds lighter than his 2012 playing weight, and has plans to drop another 10 pounds or so. Whether Sutton stays at the figure or returns to the 320-pound range depends upon which team drafts him.
“If they want me to get heavier, I’ll get heavier,” he said. “If they want me to stay there, I’ll stay there.”
Sutton’s weight has been a topic of discussion in his interviews with teams at the combine, because he gained 40 pounds between his junior and senior seasons.
While he was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year after each season, Sutton admitted this weekend that adding 40 pounds was not among his better decisions.
“I noticed it in my stamina,” he said. “My junior year my motor was a lot better than my senior year. I noticed that for a fact, a lot more run to the ball. That’s something I’ve got to prove coming in. I’ve got to improve on my motor.”
Every player has something to prove at the combine, including the other players from Arizona schools: Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey and linebacker Carl Bradford and running back Marion Grice from ASU.
Sutton’s case is especially intriguing because of the weight fluctuation.
Sutton said he listened to outside voices, mostly from the media, that said he needed to gain weight to be effective in the NFL.
So he did, going from eating three or four times a day to six.
He lost the weight to prepare for the combine. He might keep it off if he’s drafted by a team that views him as a tackle in a 4-3 defense, where being svelte would add to his quickness and explosiveness.
He might put weight back on if his new team runs a 3-4 and wants him to play some nose tackle or end.
“I talked to the Packers and they are a 3-4 and they were like, ‘if you come here, we’re going to keep the weight on you,’ ” Sutton said. “Because I’m an athletic 320 (pound) guy. Wherever they want me to go, I’m going to be there and compete.”
Grice needs to show scouts that he’s recovered from a season-ending leg injury suffered last November. He wasn’t available to media at the combine.
A year ago, Bradford didn’t dream of entering the draft this season. But after a superlative year on the field and earning a degree, he decided it was time to enter the NFL.
“I had two great seasons my sophomore and junior year,” he said. “Once again, I graduated. I feel like my rollercoaster just keeps going and I decided to come out. I feel like I was mentally and physically ready.”
In contrast, Carey said this week that he was ready to enter the NFL a year ago. He wasn’t eligible until this year, and he could be the first running back taken.
That’s not the honor it used to be, because NFL teams place less value on running backs these days. Carey’s aware that many personnel believe they can find productive running backs in later rounds, and joked that he wished someone had told him that back when he played at Oro Valley Canyon del Oro High.
“Tell me about it,” Carey said, smiling. “Nowadays, they're like you've got to go second, third round. I'm like, 'why in the hell didn't you tell me this a couple of years ago, that running backs are going extinct?’
“I'm definitely OK with it. I'm just trying to show we're definitely valuable. But I definitely would have went to corner or something. Shoot."
