I never thought he was gonna play LT in the NFL, figured he'd play RT.

That's a really good point. I still think he can be first round pick; he just may go a bit later than projected.

It's unfortunate, but he's pretty much screwed (in terms of where he was sitting several weeks back).

Knorwood and McCarron had a good showing. I honestly didn't get to watch much of the combine this weekend, but I'll post some thoughts and stuff in here once I see it today.

All I know though is the WR class is pretty damn beastly this year. Kelvin Benjamin, Marquis Lee, Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins (benched much better than I thought he would have), Jordan Mathews, Knorwood, Jarvis Landry, Beckem Jr, then Allen Robinson...That is a damn fine class.

Sunday might be the most popular day of the NFL Scouting Combine, mostly because this is when the biggest names hit the field. The quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers all performed their on-field drills, including the 40 time. Meanwhile, the defensive linemen and linebackers did the bench press and will perform their drills on Monday.Here's a recap of Sunday's major goings-on:
[h=4]Quarterbacks[/h]There weren't any 40 times that really turned heads, but this class did prove themselves to be a reasonably mobile group. Logan Thomas led all quarterbacks with a 4.61 time, which wasn't a major surprise given his athletic build. Johnny Manziel acquitted himself well, running a 4.68 and having solid interviews. He'll wait to throw until his pro day.
Teddy Bridgewater chose not to participate in the drills. That raised some eyebrows on Twitter, but NFL scouts will have another chance to see him at Louisville's pro day.
[h=4]Running backs[/h]Many people consider this a decent running back class, but lacking any game-changing first-round talent at the top. Sunday's drills more or less reinforced that notion, with a bunch of solid performances but not much that stood out. Dri Archer of Kent State was one of the exceptions, running a 4.26 40 that nearly broke Chris Johnson's record. Being just 5'8 and 173 pounds, that run went a long way to get him noticed by scouts. Auburn star Tre Mason ran a 4.50 and Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey clocked in at 4.70.
[h=4]Wide receivers[/h]Clemson's Sammy Watkins solidified his position as the top wideout prospect this year, running an official 4.43 40 and recording a 34-inch vertical leap. The 6'0, 211-pound playmaker should be the first receiver off the board in May. Oregon State's Brandin Cooks was the big standout on the track, running a 4.33 40, but the real surprise was Clemson's Martavis Bryant. Standing in at 6'3 and 211 pounds, Bryant blazed to a 4.42 40 time, which would surely make scouts stand up and take another look at his college tape.
[h=4]Defensive linemen[/h]Boston College's Kaleb Ramsey and Pittsburgh's Aaron Donald had the best weightlifting sessions, getting 36 and 35 reps of 225 pounds, respectively. For Donald, a 6'1, 285 pound lineman, that is an impressive number and will probably allay concerns about his undersized frame holding up in the NFL.
Jadeveon Clowney got the most attention for obvious reasons, and he had only 21 reps in the bench press. That might raise some concerns, but Clowney is still expected to quiet the doubters in his on-field workouts on Monday.
[h=4]Linebackers[/h]UCLA's Anthony Barr is the biggest name among the linebackers, but his bench press left something to be desired, managing just 15 reps. The bench press obviously shouldn't be the be-all-end-all for draft prospects, but Barr has been slipping down draft boards in recent weeks and his weightlifting reps did not help. He will need to ace his drills on Monday to stay in the top-15 conversation.
Max Bullough of Michigan State and Khairi Fortt of California had the best performances on the bench press, both getting 30 reps.

Today was the first day of the on field drills at the NFL Combine, with the O-Linemen , Tight Ends and Special Teams players participating in drills. Here at JBB we are going to breakdown all the action and important storylines each and every day of the Combine.

Offensive Lineman:

In today’s NFL, offensive lineman are almost as important as the quarterback they are protecting. Today the best O-Line prospects were on display and quite some of them put on a show. There is a three player race for best prospect; Jake Matthews, Greg Robinson and Taylor Lewan.

Those three players stood out head and shoulders above the rest of the prospects, with their athleticism. Matthews looked like he had the best technique on the ‘kick slide’ drill (most important drill for OTs), with Lewan looking a little better than Robinson. Lewan and Robinson opened eyes with 4.87 and 4.92 40 yd dash times respectively. Coming into the Combine Matthews was viewed as the top OT but Robinson and Lewan closed the gap with their performances today.

Along with the players we knew would perform well, there were a few surprises. The two players that impressed me the most were Seantrel Henderson and Joel Bitonio. Henderson has legit first round talent but off field issues and inconsistent tape have hurt his draft stock. His performance at the combine today will make teams consider if despite his past, he is still a player worth taking early in the draft. Bitonio is a lesser known guy but had a great performance today in the 40 running a 4.97 and the 3 cone drill with a 7.37 time. With their performances today they have definitely moved up draft boards.

With surprises always come disappointments, today’s biggest disappointment was Cyrus Kouandjiu from Alabama. Kouandjiu started the season at the top of draft boards but he struggled this season and slowly fell down draft boards. Today he just did not look to be in the same class of athlete as the top Lineman as evidenced by his 5.59 40 yd dash time and in the position specific drills he looked stiff and a step slow. He is really going to have to impress at his pro day to regain top prospect status he once had but right now he is quickly falling down the ranks.

Tight End:
Like the O-Lineman, Tight Ends are becoming more and more athletic. With the emergence of players like Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski, teams are always on the look out for a Tight End to create matchup problems for the defense. Eric Ebron is the premier athletic Tight End in this year’s class and he showed that in his workouts right away.
Ebron started his combine off impressively by doing 24 reps in the bench press and running a 4.50 40 yd dash. However after his second attempt at the 4o he seemed to injure his knee and did not take part in the rest of the TE drills. Hopefully this knee injury is not serious and he is able to compete at his pro day. If he is unable to compete in his pro day it will all but stop the talks of him being a top 10 pick.
A.C. Johnson from Tennessee St really showed out impressively today as he ran a 4.50 40 yd dash, fastest of all TE. He also had the best broad jump of TEs at 10.8 ft. Other than the athletic drills, he showed soft hands and ran decent routes. Johnson is a smaller TE at only 6′ 2″ tall but he could be used as a player who splits out wide and can make plays in space. He is a player to keep watch on as he has all the physical tools to be an impact TE.
Watching the TEs workout was somewhat disappointing in general because the top names either did not work out or could not work out 100%. Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, Eric Ebron and Troy Niklas were all limited at the workouts this afternoon. I was really excited to watch Ebron and Sefarian-Jenkins compete head to head for the top TE spot. Hopefully these players will get healthy and they are able to show everything they are capable of before the NFL Draft.
All in all today was a relatively uneventful combine day, as O-Lineman and TE are generally the least explosive athletes. Today was important as we got to see who is the cream of the crop at the OT position. Tomorrow the QBs, WRs and RBs take the field to show off their athleticism. Sunday marked the start of the real fun at the NFL Combine as after the offensive linemen and tight ends did their combine testing on Saturday the skill positions took center stage. 37 running backs participated in the 2014 combine events and several of the favorites to post impressive numbers did just that this afternoon in Indianapolis.
Dri Archer would take the headlines in the 40 yard dash running an official time of 4.26, just .02 seconds slower than Chris Johnson’s all-time mark of 4.24 while Bishop Sankey was impressive in the bench press with 26 reps to go along with his 40 time of 4.49 to show off his elite blend of power and acceleration coming out Washington.
Carlos Hyde had a disappointing day, coming up limp with a hamstring injury during the 40 yard dash. Auburn star running back Tre Mason ran an official time of 4.5 in the 40 to round out the notable highlights of the day for running backs.

[h=1]NFL draft diary: Alabama WR Kevin Norwood[/h]
We were born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi. I'm the baby, so it was basically me and my sister in the house. My three brothers – they're all old, they've got their jobs. I went to Gulfport for middle school. I didn't want to leave my friends, but my mom found a job and a house, so I didn't have no say-so. I started playing football, basketball, running track. I started really enjoying it.
Then, Hurricane Katrina hit.


Katrina kind of messed up our house. I decided to move to D'Iberville. My mom stayed in Gulf Port because she had a job. I just stayed with my cousin. For some reason, I wanted to go somewhere else. It wasn't nobody at the school. I wasn't getting into fights or nothing like that. I just wanted to get out of Gulf Port. I didn't like it too much, I guess.
D'Iberville is real quiet, more laid-back. It's a small town. Everybody knows everybody. It's all about the decisions you make when you go down there. There's people that hang out with the wrong crowd. There's people that hang out with the good crowd. I hung out with everybody, but I knew right from wrong.
My father passed away when I was 10. I really didn't know him. He wasn't in my life. When he passed, I shed maybe a couple of tears. I met him like twice at the most. He usually wasn't there.
My mom is my motivation. She is my inspiration. She's everything. She's struggling with health issues right now. Whenever I get the chance, I want to get her off her feet and really take care of her. She has done everything, moving from job to job and having two jobs at one point. I even had to get a job when I was in Gulf Port. I worked at McDonald's for two years. I just helped out any way I could.
I was crying when I went to college – me and my mom. Who would've thought I'd have gone to college? I'm the first in my family to go to college. It was a very proud moment for my mom. When she dropped me off and left, we called each other maybe 5 or 10 minutes later and were crying on the phone, like 'Wow, this really happened.'\
Growing up watching pro football on TV, watching Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens, I was just laying here telling myself, 'Man, I wish I can get on TV like these guys.' In another couple months, I'll most likely be fulfilling my dream.
It's a dream come true. It really is. Emotions are going to be high. And when I get my name called for the draft, it's going to be a proud moment. I don't know what I'm going to do, to be honest. I won't know whether to jump for joy or just hug my mom and shed some tears.
