🧑‍🍳 13 Alabama restaurants our (Al.com) readers never get tired of...

Never met P Cuda or been to his place. Is it in Tuscaloosa?
It was in Summerville, SC, on Main Street. He closed the location seven or eight years ago. Real estate costs. It's the old part of Summerville. IE: streets laid out in blocks like you would find...Indianapolis. E 1st N St., then E 2nd N St...likely four churches within a half of a mile from each other; OLD Summerville churches.

What's that show...Diners, Drive-In's...the one that featured different restaurants. They did a show from his place, Perfectly Franks, you can probably still find on YouTube.

Did find this:

Don't know why, but I was thinking the name of that peanut place on Morris was The Peanut Depot. I agree with you , the smell of those roasting peanuts in what look like antique machines was like no other. My old boss man turned me on to the place in the early 80's. Been there a good many times.

My boss also turned me on to Pete's Famous Hotdogs (I think?). They're not on Morris, 1'st Av N maybe? Very small place, only a few stools at a bar. Dang good dogs. Not affiliated with Sneaky Pete's
Yes, Pete's Famous, forgot that one. Three hot dog places, all within something like three blocks of each other.

Today I learned ...

Have a bag of Cajun roast on the kitchen counter right now. It’s usually my go-to snack for watching Bama Baseball when I watch from home. I can guarantee there’s some sort of flavored boiled peanuts in the garage fridge too, Mrs. Van de Graaff gets those.

Pete’s Famous. Best hotdogs I’ve ever had. A unique experience (some days more than others) but an incredible hotdog.

Tim, Patsy and I finally got to eat at the Jim & Nicks you recommended years ago while our daughter had dermatology appointments in Chelsea. Patsy and I attended a funeral of a friend of sorts at the Chelsea Church of God last week and stopped back by Jim & Nicks. It was delicious.

I didn't know they put the sauce on the meat or I'd asked for it to be on the side. I like to try the meat before adding sauce. Sometimes it doesn't need any sauce. But the sauce was good and the food delicious.

I'm glad you liked it. It's expensive, but I think it's one of the better BBQ chains. Chelsea Church of God, you were about six miles from my Mom's in Westover. They moved to their new building as part of the revamp of the "downtown" roads several years back.

Good lord, isn't that the truth. There's a place just up the street that serves their's "dry" with four sauces at a condiment area. It was the first question I asked when I sat down. Well, second. (I knew they had beer, didn't know what kinds of beer.)

Here's one for you.

I have, on occasion, put mustard on a BBQ sandwich.
I don't mind the taste of a mustard based BBQ. It's not high in my list, but edible.

I HATE the way a mustard based BBQ looks. Reminds me of a baby's diaper.

There's only one other place I'll eat BBQ in this town; Rodney's place. As soon as you find yourself in a situation where you have to ask how the BBQ is made...it's time to move on down the menu.

On a related note, somewhat.

Those of us that have lived in T-town know what it's like to smell the bread in the morning. The BBQ place up the street? I smell that smoking, often. I'm almost a half of a mile away but when that breeze hits on the weekends mornings. (Their slaw sucks.)
