Glad to see Marshall picking up the hospital bills. I don't really know if the liability falls on the referees.
We had a situation that was similar in that it included the band my senior year in HS. We were playing in the playoffs. The other team was on offense, and threw a pass to the corner of the endzone. The band members were walking 3-4 yards out of bounds to get to the other side to play for halftime, and the other team's receiver catches the ball and simultaneously runs into a tuba (or something, don't remember exactly what instrument) player. It was called a touchdown. We went on to lose 29-28.
