Did yall see that play and injury :?: It looked really bad, but I have not heard any updates on the extent of his leg injury...it had to be broken, just not sure how bad. Imagine having a possible promising football career and have it ended because you ran into a band cart behind the endzone....that would absolutely suck.

Compund fractures from what I heard. I saw it live and it was INSANE! On the replay it snaps like a twig. HORRIBLE!

Very Prothro-esque.

Marshall should be ashamed...

The video is on Youtube for those who missed it.

I saw it last night and grabbed my leg in pain. I immediately went to thoughts of prothro breaking his leg in 05.
I once played for a coach that always fought over the field with the band director. He went as far as to put locks on all of the gates to keep them out. I always thought it was silly but after last night maybe it was preventive medicine.

Saw it on sportscenter last night and I could have swore I heard one of the SC anchors chuckle...

I rewound it several times to hear him and it sure sounded like he did.

i can't believe those carts were positioned there. there was already a lack of space behind the endzone. honestly, i'd be surprised if someone isn't fired or sued because of that. the safety of the players was compromised too much!

i saw it too

I went to get a snack before bed, sat down and turned the TV on. I flipped over just in time to see that happen. Replay showed the leg snap. It had to be a compound fracture. I wanted to slap the living s**t out of whoever put those carts there. Man that made me mad...

What a classy bunch. I swear at the very end you can hear some dumb#$@ yell walk it off.

Someone should definitely be fired over this.

The metal carts were placed in a hazardous spot.

Is a lawsuit possible for the youngster?

Without a doubt.

Edwards, running out of the end zone as he tried to track down a long pass from Blake Joseph, ran into a band equipment cart that for reasons that remain unclear were parked just beyond the out-of-bounds line. The impact, captured by ESPN’s cameras, caused a compound fracture of Edwards’ right leg.

Cougars’ coach Kevin Sumlin said that while he had “his opinions” on the subject, he would offer no comment on such a dangerous situation. University of Houston athletics director Dave Maggard said he will pursue the subject with Marshall officials.

“It was duly noted and I think we’ll save the conversation for another day,” Maggard said. “I don’t think there is any question that it is a problem. We all noticed it, and we want to find out why something like that would occur. It was a serious injury, no question about it.”

It's just a shame that it had to happen. It is the responsibility of the band to keep it's equipment out of the way... The director should be fired. When I was in band...if we had something like that sitting out that close to the endzone...we would have gotten chewed out...

Curious how much liability, if any, lies with the Referees :?: I dont know about college, but I have personally seen High School refs stop a game for this exact same thing just prior to a halftime show some years back. They competely stopped everything and made the band move their stuff...and it was very similar to what took place last night.

I don't think officials could be held liable on this at all. It falls squarely on the Marshall program, whether it was the band or not.

"The doctor said I will be good, ready for next season," Edwards said.

Doctors say he will be ready to play by next year. Crazy odds huh ? Glad to hear though.
