💬 With sights on Jimbo Fisher, LSU formulates plan for potential quick hire next weekend

I work with a berserk LSU fan (sorry for the repetition) who swears TX is going to finally hire Saban, and LSU will NOT be hiring Jimbo because their press conference to announce their coach is on Saturday afternoon and Jimbo plays that night. Says Herman is turned off by the UT environment and is dying to come to LSU.

There you have it, almost straight from a corn dog.

RTR,

Tim

It makes perfect sense...why else would tbey string Charlie Strong along? They're giving themselves more time because Saban doesn't want it announced until after we lose our last two games and are out of the playoffs. The big news about the whole thing is that Saban BEGGED Texas to take him and is not only lowering his salary, but has agreed to pay Texas for the privilege to coach there.

Don't worry though. Our AD has already secured Les Miles to take over and run the ball up the middle every down for the next 5-7 years.

According to airport radar data, an LSU university airplane landed in Tallahassee yesterday. So, there is that.
Not doubting this but the timing seems odd. Would Jimbo really take the time to talk with another school when he still has UF to play? Would LSU not ask for permission from FSU prior to talking? Doesn't really add up.

Oh, I don't don't know the dynamics of any of that or who would actually confess the details. LSU said they would make an announcement of some kind this weekend. If Jimbo is their man and he wants the job, this Saturday would conclude his obligation in Tallahassee. Along with a 5 mil buyout of his FSU contract as well.

FSU coach Jimbo Fisher has long been linked to the LSU opening, and it appears the Tigers are intent on bringing him back home.

Fisher served as the team’s offensive coordinator for a number of years under Nick Saban and Les Miles before moving on to Florida State, where he has been extremely successful as a head coach.

While Fisher has denied his interest in the job publicly, reports have surfaced that LSU has made a strong offer to the Seminoles coach.

Hanagriff - they're doing a "what will you take?" with Jimbo. Call that what you may, an offer or whatever. He's top choice. #LSU@1045espn

With a few weeks remaining in the season, this decision might not happen immediately but it’s a story that continues to develop.

I'm sure Jimbo after much contemplation and financial consideration decided the FSU money was better than Lousiana politics. I do think Texas is going to make a run at Herman before this derby gets settled this weekend. If the Longhorns pull it off, it's going to be fascinating to finally see just how much belief LSU really has in Orgeron.

i wonder how much of it is actually true and how much is a ploy to get more money from the current program to stay.

Fisher's agent IS Jimmy Sexton, after all. and he's a damn good agent. otherwise, Nick Saban probably wouldn't keep him as his agent.

i gotta agree with your assessment about the financial consideration and louisiana politics. i'm sure the politics at fsu isn't a whole lot better, but it's certainly not worse. and i'd be willing to bet he didn't want that steaming pile happening at texas and all their billionaire boosters trying to call the shots with their money instead of letting him run the team.

ESPN is claiming that LSU has an offer for Tom Herman and he is expected to sign it. Herman flat out denied it and said all the reports are false. So that means you can probably bet hes already agreed to a deal with LSU or Texas.

So what is it Tom or Jim? Well each name is only three letters, just like Les, so that mean the LSU fan shouldn't have to get those name wrong! :rolf:

LSU: Ed Orgeron and AD Joe Alleva met this morning to discuss Orgeron’s candidacy for the permanent head coaching job, per The Advocate, which adds that Orgeron is a "serious candidate," and Lane Kiffin is atop his list for potential offensive coordinators.
