🏈 With McElwain gone (apparently) - any thoughts on who should replace him?

As we have all seen since he has been here, coach Saban is a master of contingency planning. Groh to OC and hire a new receivers coach is what I've heard (mainly from guys on this board who have pretty good information).

hm.. it's be interesting if this comes to be what differences there be on shematic wise but i guess more on playcalling.:a:
I would add Coaching the QBs to that also, I wonder how Groh would be in that role? Man it is tough to call what Coach Saban is going to do, but I do know one thing, I aint to worried about it, LOL, not like I was with past coaches. Heck remember when we worried about the Head Coaching job?

How about we get Todd Monken from OK State, think they would hate us even more than they do now? LOL

Groh really? same guy that got pushed out as OC in Virginia. now 3 years later he may be our OC. looks like a backwards step to me. Hello major applewhite part deux.

My first thought was the Oregon OC Mark Helfrich. Oregon is a run oriented team that passes well. I dont really know that much about him other than his productivity at Oregon and his work speaks for itself. Dunno what he gets paid there either.

^^ i would prolly vomit if we hired Oregon's OC and Coach Saban would prolly slit his wrists before he brought the spread here...

we dont have even CLOSE to the type of personnel u need to run that offense. im not even gonna get into how much i hate the spread, lets just leave it at we don't have the personnel to run it and i doubt Coach Saban has ANY desire to run it anyway. hes always ran the Pro Style offense.

Being the OC at Virginia has to be like being the OC at Vandy. You just don't have the athletes the other schools have. Groh would (will?) probably do as well as anyone else if given our athletes. Plus he did coach Matt Schaub (sp?), so I think he could develop QBs.

There's one name I'm hearing right now that doesn't sit well with me...not sure why his name is being thrown around other than recruiting in Mobile.

You might want to consider Burns as well...but, I'm still leaning Groh's direction.

Please tell me his initials aren't either TM or DC?

i don't know who it is, but i'm impressed with the way they play on offense. for the better part of two decades it seems, wisconsin has put a lot of rushing yards down and has gotten decent play from their QBs.

I'd be fine with Groh, but now I'm a little worried. I don't know much about Burns (except that he has done a fantastic job with our RBs), so I would be a little hesitant there. But hey, what do I know?
