There have been a few. But I guess circumstance always have a place in our heart that makes some games more memorable than others. Even in this heated rivalry.

1986 - We had gone through a 4-year dry spell and I was seriously wondering if this Ray Perkin's idea was all that great, even if coach Bryant had given his blessings. So Mike Shula, Bobby Humphrey, Gene Jelks take the 6-0, 2nd ranked Crimson Tide to Knoxville to meet Johnny Major's Tennessee team. When the dust settled, Bama went over, through, and around the overmatched volunteers, 56-28. I loved watching Bobby Humphrey run the ball. It would be 9 more years and a new vols coach before they would see another win against the Tide in 1995. ROLL TIDE!!!

Alabama scored on the first play from scrimmage as Gary Rutledge fired an 80-yard TD pass to Wayne Wheeler setting the stage for the Tides three touchdown win. This was also the first time Alabama game against UT and Auburn was on TV the the same year.

It began when Alabama’s head trainer, Jim Goostree, handed out cigars to the team after they defeated Tennessee in 1961. The Crimson Tide had won just once in 13 years and that victory called for a bigger celebration.

@TerryP this may give you a laugh. Right now I only watch Bama play if on regular TV. I was marry that year, we were living in Wedowee,Al. At that time no cable for this town, I had no antennae either. But, I when to my folks house to watch the game ,as I knew my parent were out visiting.

'92 because I got to go to that game in Obknoxiusville. Someone had gone through the place where Bama fans/students had previously purchased tickets and placed red sheets with a large black 7 on them because we were going for our seventh straight win over them. The difference in how hospitable the UTurd fans were before and after the game was palpable. A few students invited us into their house, and we sat and drank beer and watched some other game. After the game, we walked back to where our car was parked. They...wouldn't even look at us after we thanked them again.

See, I would have thought that was a trap. In the "90" game my brother-in-law and I almost had to swim back. We may have brought some of that on ourselves.

The 4 straight losses were the only losses in a TWENTY FOUR YEAR period! 1971-1994. Made the mistake of scheduling Penn State on the Second Saturday in October in those 4 years.

2002 was pretty big because that was like 7 straight years of them dominating us but 09 was the most special because of Mt. Cody and the Rocky Block. That was at a time in the year where the team was really beat up too so it was a huge win. 05 and "rocky stop" was pretty huge too.

Probably the one I have the best memories of is the 1987 game. Bama won 41 -22. It was played at Legion Field and there were three Vile fans sitting a couple of rows behind us. They were talking smack because Memphis State had beaten us the week before 13-10 in Coach Bill Curry's first year. They were very bold prior to kick off, probably because of a surplus of liquid courage consumed during the afternoon. None of us Bama fans sitting around them didn't say much but Bama soon took over the game. The Viles got real quiet and by the middle of the 2nd quarter one of them asked, "what radio station in B'ham carries the World Series?" It got a big laugh and someone told him where to find it.

For the rest of the game he kept us up to date on what was going on between the Twins and the Cardinals. Never said another word about the football game.
