Besides one that wins games :D Whats yalls opinions on the QB position...would you prefer to see the traditional passer that runs only as a last resort or "for lack of a better term" the "Tebow" type that can bring another serious run threat to the table. My personal opinion is it just doesnt matter to me...as long as they can produce positive results. Do yall think it hurts in recruiting if your passer is also a big runner in the offense? Point being would the better receiver recruits want more passes and therefore not want to go to a school where they may not get to touch the ball as much. Cant really see where this has effected Florida...they have weapons everywhere. Just brainstorming...

Ability wise I'd like to see a Kenny Stabler type, primarily a passer but a real threat on a scramble or an occasional option play. (Mind you, I'm talking about the collegiate Kenny Stabler, not the NFL Kenny Stabler who played much of his career with two bad knees, although an NFL style Stabler wouldn't be bad either.)

I personally like the Sam Bradford/Colt McCoy types.

We have such a great backfield, so we really don't need a running/passing QB. I want a pocket passer who can get the ball to Julio!

So I guess in the big picture of college football, I enjoy pocket passers more than I enjoy the Tebow types.

I'd like the kind who's very modest and gives credit to his line, receivers and running backs as he accepts the MVP award at the National Championship game. :D

Let me add a Jay Barker attitude to the Kenny Stabler skill set.

It would really be nice if we had man with the ability of a Namath/Brodie Croyle with the legs of a Fran Tarkington.I know that's asking for the moon but if i'm gonna dream i might as well dream big.

RollTide1980 mentioned Julio...do ya think Julio would be wearing crimson right now if Tebow was Bamas QB?

I would say yes. If you remember when Julio did the "hat dance" on signing day he said he wanted to be close to home and be at a school that felt like home.

Tebow can throw the ball. Our secondary should know a thing or 10 about that.

I think Julio would have still arrived in T-town.

I want a QB like Jay Barker. The attitude and leadership is the most important thing in a QB IMO (I mean he has to have some skill). But when you have leaders on a team, it makes everyone step up.

passing moves the ball forward faster than running with it.

i want a classic "pro-style" Joe Montana/Tom Brady-like quarterback who has the poise to deliver a strike to his 2nd, 3rd, or 4th receivers. then again, it requires a good pass-blocking OL. :?

Even though I prefer running the ball, I like a QB that can read coverage effectively. He doesn't necessarily need a rocket arm, but a QB that can check off receivers on a third and long is invaluable. Maybe like a Phil Simms or a Bernie Kosar kinda guy.

I don't mind a dual threat QB, but some out there take off under the least bit of pressure from a defense. Run when you have to, throw when you're supposed to.

I would like to see a dual threat QB....(Don't get me wrong, I HATE the spread) I like the Tebow type of this year.....Imagine if this year we had the type of QB that could throw the deep ball and the threat of also running it. With the line we had and the backfield......Julio would have had alot more TD's. Defenses would have to play to stop the run from the QB and the great backs we have.....then they would have to stop the pass at the same time. I'm not a fan of Florida but if you break down the threats they have its crazy. I'll take the Tim Tebow stats of this year.... 28 Passing TD's 2 Int

It depends on your O-Line which type of QB you want. If your O-Line is very strong then you want a Pro-Style QB. If the Line isn't very good, you want a Dual threat that can scramble to avoid a sack.

A team moves the ball faster and farther by throwing it. To me, running is what you do to salvage something when everything else is shut down.

One that can complete a pass to a rec. who is wide freaking open in a bowl game! had that happened we just might still have won the sugar bowl as crappy as we played which tells me UTAH is not a Nat. Champship team IMHO! RTR!

I think ideally a dual threat QB that has an accurate arm is the most effective. The Rollison kid that played in one of the All Star games (don't remember which one) is a great example. He consistently hit the Brown kid from Wichita IN-STRIDE on long balls. I was very impressed (although it doesn't take that much to impress me  :D) I think CNS prefers more of a true passing QB that is athletic enough to make plays with his legs, though.
