🏈 We were talking about Dabo losing his program several weeks ago. What's your opinion now? Here's one from a Tigers' fan.

Clemson is done. They were at the top when they had continuity - Brad Scott and Tony Elliott as OC. Venables as DC.

They lost Scott and a generational talent Trevor Lawrence. Now they lost Elliott and Venables.

They used to never have decommits or transfers. Now they are suffering both.

The transfer portal is essential now to stay at the top. They aren't using it.

Their recruiting classes aren't near the level that got them the talent they had when they won titles.

Dabo didn't backfill at OC or DC with adequate replacements.

I don't think they are near 85 scholarships for 2022. They don't have a great QB (unless true frosh Klubnik can be that guy). They don't have elite WRs anymore.

Once this class of DL graduates, they are in real trouble. And they aren't in the conversation in 2022 for the playoff to begin with.

There’s a lot of speculation in your post.
Where's the speculation? Literally, all of what I've posted has happened.

Streeter has had two seasons with DJU and what have we seen? He did a poor job this season when given the reigns. Speculation would involve saying what's going to happen in year three is different. Based upon what? The unseen? What justifies faith in Brandon Streeter?

Speculation about how he filled out his defensive staff? No sir. He just shuffled people and titles without bringing in someone with Venables knowledge and experience. That's happened already, literally.

Filling needs? Look at their class. They didn't. No speculation there at all. It's also history.

Recruiting is not over either...and there is the portal...

Jumping to negative conclusions before its finished....

Come on. I know you don't following recruiting closely enough to even speculate here.

As to your point and the issues I've pointed out with their recruiting class? Yeah, it's pretty much over. Find an area of need for Clemson, then look at who is available coming out, and tell me how many you'll find Clemson as one of the finalist. The majority are committed and signed and those who aren't haven't been considering Clemson.

I'm drawing a conclusion based on what's happened. It's hardly a jump saying "same team, lesser staff, equals the same or worse results."

Ok....still top 20 or so class....
I suspect Dabo knows his needs...for a staff...and for his type players....
Pretty dang successful HC...

And NO....I really do NOT follow recruiting....you are right..actually most of what i know....i read here...lol

You're right he's been pretty successful; all timer with his rings. It's that success I'm pointing to here.

When they were successful they had threats at X,Y, and Z. His receiving corps are now made up of guys who are prototypical X receivers. When their offense was at its highest potential all three positions were filled with what's required at said position. (IE: Bama isn't going to use Jameson at Z unless they're after a specific matchup: that's a Metchie / Earle athlete.)

Clemson has continued to recruit in this fashion in spite of having a wide receiver corps that's filled with those guys. They've signed one guy who can fit that Z role in their class, they didn't have on last season.

Can Clemson use those X receiver types and find mismatches? Sure. They could and have but it can't be the staple of your passing game. How well have they used these mismatches? There's your hiccup. Jeff Scott had a knack, Elliot wasn't good at it, and that's who Streeter has been working under. That's not a good combination.

FWIW, my perspective for '22-'23?

I'd take the under on Clemson 10½ for a win total. I can easily see two road losses before diving deeper into their schedule: @ ND, BC, FSU, and WF with one other...@GT to open in ATL I believe.

So..... you have Clemson under 10 1/2!!!!!!!!
Ok...10-2 isnt a panacea.......
I dont see a challenger in ACC

12 or more teams in SEC would rejoice with that...

Clemson can do a lot of things if they can get their QB situation resolved....

Deshawn Watson’s impact in going to Clemson can’t be underestimated, in my opinion. He was a stud, unique, and hard to account for and stop. He contributed greatly to their success which then led Trevor to choosing them (and solid players at other positions as well).
