🏈 Was this a quality win?

You are right, I haven't seen a lot of Leach coached teams. Just learning what type of coach he is. It is obvious that he's going to throw the ball a lot. Up or down 24 wasn't the issue for me. But down 62-24 (38 points, or 5/6 scores) with 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter, it's time develop players and the team, not go for some meaningless NCAA record. That means WSU has to score a touchdown and two point conversion about ever 2 1/2 minutes, including Oregon's time of possession, while holding Oregon scoreless for WSU to win the game. Seriously, this is a very large stretch of the imagination for him to think WSU had a chance at that point.

Leach has a very large imagination...one that's stretched my ability to comprehend on more than one occasion.

It's my opinion that the assertion he was coaching the way he coaches in an effort to break some record is also a huge stretch of the imagination. Leach is a very intelligent man so the possibility of him knowing what the current record was isn't a stretch. It's doubtful considering who held the record. In fact, I have serious doubts that stat was something they considered during the game.

As to his thoughts on getting back in the game or much less winning in the fourth? Again, go back to his earlier years and look at the numbers of points they've scored in merely one quarter (or 13 minutes if you will.) I'm very inclined to believe the word "can't" isn't part of his vocabulary when it comes to offensive production. Didn't...there's a different subject all-together.

You've not been around long enough for me to make a judgment on what your thought process involves. What I see in this thread are comments mirroring what Aliotti said and then apologized for. I suspect, given time, you'll see Leach in a completely different light.

Don't take this the wrong way...but I do feel it's important to understand we've been exposed to Mike Leach and his thoughts/schemes for over 15 years. How he's being characterized by some of the Oregon fan base doesn't fit with what we know about him.

I don't remember where I posted it, but somewhere out there I posted that I wasn't pleased with Aliotti's comments. I've occasionally enjoyed Leach from a far as a coach who is "different" and dangerous as an opponent. I also think he's a great fit for WSU and that small community. I think it could be his kind of place. I expect him to develop competitive teams up there and be a pain in the rear.

I just think if he's all that smart, he's got to think more about developing the players and team when a game is absolutely out of reach. I think it's not smart on his part to continue to risk starters at that point in a game. That opinion won't change on my part.

I doubt you'll find many who disagree with that opinion...except for a group in Pullman (who'll likely change their mind when they see they're starting a fourth stringer at the mid-point of a season.)

Oh, and it being "his kind of place?" I TOTALLY agree with you there. We've had a bit of experience around here with guys from Pullman.

Came across like Oregon (more specifically, Aliotti) just expected teams to quit...pfft. Talk about acting like you've been there before. Remind me again why its a good thing to let assistant coaches open their mouth. He actually called Mike Leach low class (almost like he bought into what the great Craig James spewed for a while). For crying out loud, you won and you still are going off about the team that lost. I'd be embarrassed if one of our coaches said/did something like this.
