šŸ’¬ Was "Hooters" the first nationally recognized "sports bar?" Of the two times I went there, the last was to watch a baseball game...

...out on their patio and have a cold beer. It definitely wasn't for the wings.

The news of them filing for bankruptcy has been in the news the last few days in case you've missed the reports. I am surprised they've lasted this long and I couldn't tell you if the one I visited was open any longer.

Went last week. Hot wings n fried pickles.
I might give ya the fried pickles. Depends on the dippin' sauce.

The wings? Come on. There's nothing special about those. You probably get better flavor from the frozen section at Family Dollar; certainly the 7-11.

First time I visited one I sat at the bar and asked for a scotch. They didn't serve liquor. That's a strike. But, I set that aside.

Then you see someone wearing "short, shorts" but they are also wearing hose? Are you 'effin kidding me?

But, as to the topic. It was the first faux sports bar, right? It turned into a Baptist's strip club. I don't know what it is now...besides broke.

Have to agree, it was the first of the ā€œsports barsā€ to make it big. The first one I ever went to was near the bridge in Destin that goes over to Ft. Walton beach. Had the wife and kids and did not know what I was going into at the time.
Is there a place that made wings their thing went it launched? Nationally.

Ok. Like other things. Depends on taste.

But wings are breaded and fried. Not oven or microwave. If fresh. They are big and tastee.
And hot sauce is good

Great fried pickles. Cheese dip???? Fair
Usually good fries. And beer cold cold. Sorry bout no scotch Bummer.

Punches couple buttons anyway

Girls. Well if u hit a hooters at a college town. They seem to be better. Beach restaurants are good. Its all about the tits... er.. i mean tips.

Tried Bumhowers in ttown. Fair.
Did a bunch of frozen ones for Super Bowl in
oven. Yuck.

Anyway. Thats my take.
Youll like thiis. I like Applebees wings too.
Sauce great. Little bitty f'ing wing though
And ...... ms 50+ is picky. But likes hooters n Applebees. Go figure

I had a cousin that worked and then managed several Hooters restaurants around the B’ham area mid 90’s early 00’s. I’d say ā€œYes!ā€ to original sports bar. Always plenty of cold beer, TVs, good looking eye candy and decent food at decent prices.

Applesbeessouth was the group that ran Applebees locations in its heyday. The restaurant group: corporate. If I'm not mistaken, everything left is all franchises.
It was Apple South and yes it was the corporate function of Applebees (the group you bought a franchise from and then paid royalties to). Applebees is now owned by Dine Brands which also owns IHOP

This thread is useless without pics. :p
