Touche, but I don't know if it's completely true. While tough to reload and do it multiple years in a row, I think if a non bcs put together 3 straight years with 0 or 1 loss, on the third undefeated they'd get a chance at a NC. It sucks to be in a crappy conference, but what the hell can we do about it?

What?

I got the first part Utah has won a BCS bowl. What is "since Alabama has"? :?

Bama's only BCS bowl was an OT loss in the Orange Bowl to a Tom Brady led Michigan team in 1999. Dang probation!

But pre-BCS Bama has been to every BCS bowl game.
Sugar 8-4 (last visit w 1992)
Rose 4-1-1 (last visit w 1946)
Orange 4-4 (last visit L 1999)
Fiesta 0-1 (last visit 1991)

In case you havent heard Alabama holds the record for bowl appearances and bowl victories. I wish they used the Cotton Bowl and not Fiesta. It has a much better tradition and is one of the original big 4 bowls.

Funny but true Thats why I call it the PAC1. At least you would get at minimum a Rose Bowl berth if you win your conference and an automatic BCS bid.

Sorry you took it that way, bamafan4ever. I suppose the written word is not always adept at expressing true feelings.

Now that I reread it, I can see where it may have been taken as abrasive.

Really, what I wanted to get across was that the moderators may not approve of me speaking for them, as in telling someone not to post a link to a board full of trash.

I took the posters apparently polite suggestion to visit his board and was blown away by the vulgarity, anger, cursing, and vicious attacks on 'Bama fans in every imaginable way.

Of course, they didn't forget to leave out our coach and players and cheerleaders and sons and daughters of coaches or their wives in their virulent attacks either.

I have never posted to or had a conversation with a Ute fan, but their board is a pit of rotten stank and I didn't appreciate this poster, on this board, giving a link to it.

On Utefans.net you'll find some very knowledgeable fans that like to talk football with opposing fans. Sure they’ll talk some trash, but I’m sure you guys can dish it also and as with any fan base you'll have your douche bags that just want to rile things up. For the most part they are BYU posers trying to piss people off.

The first thing I’d like to point out is yes Utah is a Mormon founded school, but not all of us are Mormons (most of us actually enjoy drinking our 3.2 percent beer). So the Mormon smack doesn’t apply to all of us.

Second, most of us respect the hell out of the SEC it’s one of the top two conferences in the NCAA every year. I just wish you guys would play west of the Mississippi more often; you’d have a great time playing here at Rice Eccles Stadium. I’d love to see a one and one game with the ‘Tide.

If you guys have any questions about the Utes, hit up our board and hopefully we’ll see you guys in the Sugar Bowl.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the two Auburn statements I made on the Utefans board. It's just that with the "Hickory need not apply" attitude that the BCS system has leaves fans of BCS busters like myself with a huge chip on our shoulders and I get my gander up whenever I see anything that threatens the Utes ability to prove themselves on the field or court. And, though it is somewhat different, I can understand the reactions of some of you had yesterday - you were that close to playing for the national championship and would have definitely earned the right to play for it had you won. Hopefully, the second impressions will be the ones we remember of each other.

If we are to meet in the Sugar bowl, I would definitely enjoy the game. Your team is an excellent team and would challenge us tremendously. Our defense's most important characteristic is that they do their assignments almost flawlessly and as a result, they are in the position to make the play. They might not be the fastest, and the D-Tackles definitely are not the biggest (outside of Kenape Eliapo - I don't think that Sealver Siliaga will play much but he might see some snaps) but as a unit, they will not miss many assignments.

Our D-Ends are extremely good - think Karl Mecklenberg and you'll have a good idea as to what to expect as their flexibility to play several positions and play them well is something that stands out about them - but Kruger will be severely challenged by Andre Smith. I expect you to have the advantage here. But Koa Misi is almost as good and I think you'll be impressed with him by the end of the game. Our other defensive end of note is Derrick Shelby, who as a red-shirt freshman, plays nose guard for us. He's a bit undersized at 245 lbs but he uses his quickness very well. You'll definitely be trying to pound the ball up the middle against us. Whether Derrick, Kenape and Greg Newman are up to the task remains to be seen but they have played very well this year.

I'll let the more knowledgable Utes explain how well our linebackers and safeties play and what they do but they have played well this year and we have excellent depth at those positions (which hasn't always been the case). As for Sean Smith, he's an excellent cover corner and big: 6'3", 215 lbs. And he runs the forty in about 4.4 and has good quickness. He'll be lined up against Julio Jones. Now, Sean's has a couple of problems (outside of some trash talking) and one is that he's about a 50-50 chance at making the interception when it hits his hands. Wilson can probably throw at him and not necessarily fear the interception as Smith has been known to let the ball go through his hands. Sean could also be a more physical player, though he has improved quite a bit here this year. If you have a weak heart, keep your medications nearby, since Sean will be making things interesting for all of us, Utes and Bama fans alike.

Anyway, that's probably enough for now. And if we are matched up, I know I'll enjoy the game and I hope that it is a good one that goes to the wire.

I honestly don't care what happens on their boards and if that kind of garbage is going on, the best thing to do is not click on the link to the site. There have been some Utes that have come here today to smack talk but there are some, like on this thread, that have come here to talk x's and o's. I will not lump them into some generalization that they are all like the one's that are on some Utah board that I would otherwise never visit.

If they choose to be ignorant of the people from this part of the country then so be it. After all, I know all of them aren't running around with 37 wives and 180 children singing the "Best of the Osmonds in Branson" CD. Every region has its stigmas and only the most ignorant among us focus on that especially when trying discuss a football game.

You seem reasonable and well grounded, Utahman. But, your board is an attack zone. The fan-base that you are a part of has dive bombed every board on the Internet today and last night.

You guys are angry and petulant and very vulgar and spiteful, and that is a kind description.

I don't think many people, here on this board, would like to go and hear about the very vile and descriptive things all of you are saying about our coaches and players and fans. And yes, it is just about all of you, not just a few.

This board is not full of gutter trash types who get their jollies from trash talking on-line. You guys have been, so far, kicked off of TideFans, Scout, Rivals, etc...

It is like all of you have lost your minds and have just went berserk.

The moderators on Utefans.net are begging and pleading with posters to please show a little bit of class, yet they don't prevent them from making truly horrible posts.

I don't understand why you and some of the other Ute's here are promoting that board for any of us. Again, I speak for myself, even though it may not sound like it.

But really, perhaps it is just two different types of cultures. Not many posters around here behave as 90 percent of the Ute posters do. So why keep trying to get us over there? To insult us, to berate us, to humiliate us?

There most certainly is no football discussion going on there and to say otherwise is easily disproven.

So far, the Utes I have talked to on here have been mostly cordial. A few snide remarks about how if we didnt want to play them we should have won all our games touche! but do you guys think you would have fared better against UF?

Now to talk FOOTBALL. My thanks to those who have come in and told about their players.

DL kind of undersized huh? You will probably have a hard time stopping Bama's run game without 8-9 in the box. The only team that really did was Ole Miss but they also held UF's run game in check.

True if you stop Julio, or slow him down, you will mostly contain Bama's pass attack but you still have to worry about the TE's.

What kind of OLine you guys got? How do you think they will matchup against Bama's front 7? in particular, against Terrence cody.
