šŸ“” Update: McElwain and Florida part ways

Well, whatever coach is hired after Coach Mac is gone. Coach Mac needs to tell them! To watch out for those Gators Ghosts. Like the one that will be sitting up in the coaches' booth and watch the games! Also he will need to wear a visor cap and learn how to toss it when thing don't go his way!:D

I still hate that Urban Meyer got a pass for faking the heart condition... I know it's pretty much off topic but I can't stand he got away with that.

At the time I was a huge a-hole for calling it what it was... A cut and run, lie, fabrication and somehow one that he deserved sympathy for.

Have I ever mentioned I hate Urban Meyer??? lol

Where? I pay attention to more than one forum dedicated to Bama and I saw those same terms--almost verbatim--all over the place. Hell, even on other SEC forums I watch.

I wanted to touch on this earlier but didn't for lack of time. You're circling around a point here: mainly the tight knit circle that is the coaching world.

Take a second and remember this ... it was the first I'd heard of such.

To address McElwain’s $7.5 million buyout clause with Colorado State University, the University of Athletic Association at UF announced it will pay CSU 3 million over a period of six years and McElwain will personally pay the school $2 million over a period time. The Gators also agreed to play Colorado State in the Swamp some time between 2017 and 2020, with UF paying the Rams $2 million for the game.
In a nutshell, the conversation between Foley and McElwain boils down to this. Foley offers him the job and then says if you want it you have to pay part of the buyout. In theory I didn't--and really still don't--mind that, at all.

BUT it set a precedent about how Florida handles situations.

Now, as they very well may be looking for a new coach they are going to pull this? If you want the job you're paying the buyout. We don't want you anymore but we're not paying you any of your buyout.

If this indeed goes down as we are suspecting I don't see any other coach outside of Mullen that would work with Stricklin with "full confidence."

This whole controversy is a logic professor's dream (I'm not one, by the way). ESPN is apparently reporting that it's the very absence of evidence that UF regards as a legitimate "cause." The underlying fallacy here is that it's impossible to prove any negative generalization. I can confidently assert that no dog can recite the Gettysburg Address, but I can never prove it because I don't have access to every dog, living or dead, and new ones are being born all the time. Similarly, the Gators can never prove that Mac never received a death threat(s) at any time. They could nail him on the charge only if he made a specific, verifiable claim that could be shown to be false.
Which is the precise reason they don't want to go down this road. Mac will sue and he should.

Florida does not want this in court.

They've done lost their minds...but then again, some big time jobs are about to be open.

Still not sure why a HC would pick UF/Tenn over TAMU. As much shit as I give TAMU, they are sitting on a gold mine. Just need the right coach to tap into it.

weird ... they threatened him .. he didnt budge so he hasnt been fired yet ?

update - get it he has been been fired but buyout not determined? Its not even a news on ESPN.

"We want to thank Coach McElwain for his efforts in leading the Gator football program," said Stricklin. "We are confident Coach Shannon will provide the proper guidance to the players and rest of staff during this time and we will begin a national search for the next head coach."
