Texas has officially announced that it has parted ways with Charlie Strong

A friend of mine posted this on fb (she knows ex-players who like to think they're still connected):

Word is if he doesn't get Houston job he goes to LSU. Said team knows he's leaving one way or the other.

Hmm... I still think making a lateral move isn't going to benefit him in the long run. I guess Haw Haw won't chew his ass out on national tv.

Whether we like to believe it or not, Kiffin to LSU as the OC is not that far fetched, Kiffin helped coach O out at by hiring him at USC. From what I can tell him, coach O and Sark have a tight personal relationship with each other..... beyond rumors and such, some folks do honor moral obligations to friends.

Tom Herman is a sissy. Clearly wanted the easy track instead of coming to the West and getting his ass handed to him. Save that Texas recruiting ties BS, because our coaches go into Texas and get who we want without having "ties". Make fun of Coach O all you want but he sure as shit didn't run, he wanted the job in tge best conference in the best division in football. Herman will flop at Texas, mark my words.

I'd question LK's thought process if he were to follow Coach O to LSU. He'd have to face Alabama's defense. He'd leave behind one of the best sophomore qb's in the country. He'd leave an already built dynasty. He'd still be an offense coordinator. He'd leave behind Saban's words of love and encouragement. Okay, maybe there is a slight chance. Still don't see it.

LK becoming a head coach again. I can see that. Joining the corndog's? I dunno..

Oh, I completely agree. As long as the boosters are allowed to influence the program, no one will ever clearly succeed there.

Btw, my fb friend just posted that Kiffin missed the chapel service this morning, something he never does. (shrug!) Take that...for what it's worth...Is that worth anything?

Guess our defenses will have to learn how to stop jet sweeps and quick outs when we play them. :-)

I agree with you. I simply can't see anyone leaving a school like Alabama, a sure thing with Saban here, building the desire for your services to create a peak, only to make a lateral move to an unknown space that could damage your future. Hell, even if it was always Saban as the reason for success and the athletes, let the next school find that out as their head coach, not as a lateral move to another school.

I hope CLK doesn't leave. For the first time while at Bama he'll have his entire backfield returning and, more than likely, three or four 4* / 5* recruits to work with in a new backfield. If he moves to LSU as OC, he may end up a perennial OC. But I don't know what I don't know and don't understand a lot of what I do know. I just hope he stays with us.

I'm unconvinced this wasn't an accidental hire. It is plausible that Alleva was trying to break the bad news to Coach O, but a communication / yaw-yaw to English translation error led to both parties accidentally agreeing to the hire.
