🏀 UConn is in talks to join the Big 12 for basketball in 2026

I mean, it's where college athletics is going. I'm not being nostalgic when I say this, but the old Big East was perfect and had some of the best basketball in the country. I know it's exciting hearing about these "Super Conferences" but we had a good thing back then.

I don't know where any is going. Its all like the most random bullshit anyone could imagine. Yep. Big east bball was darn good.
Pac 12 football was good.
Now it's scattered over the country like a bomb went off n blew em up. Parts everywhere
There is no way some of this is sustainable
Gonna be like a bunch of bowls during season.

About a year ago, maybe a little longer than that, we had a similar discussion here about the Big 12: do they follow in the footsteps of the Big East.

When Yormark was hired he specifically mentioned making the Big 12 a power house in basketball. My question was, "to what end?"

The Big East lost their position as a power conference when they chose to focus their money and energy on basketball and not football (revenue.) And, in the end, we see what happened with that conference.

It's my opinion, if they choose to chase the bait that is "super basketball conference" they will also ween their own way away from being a power conference (not that I'm convinced they are a power conference right now.)
