Two 2021 basketball prospects sign with Alabama
Langston Wilson and Jusaun Holt signed their letters of intent on Wednesday.
Alabama menās basketball on Wednesday received national letters of intent from two of its three committed 2021 recruits.
The school announced that four-star forward Langston Wilson, a junior college transfer from Georgia Highlands College, and four-star Georgia wing Jusuan Holt had both signed.
Five-star guard J.D. Davison, the stateās top prospect in the class who committed to Alabama last month, will sign his letter of intent on Saturday, StockRisers.com reported.
The early signing period for menās basketball began Wednesday and runs through Nov. 18.
Wilson, the second-rated JUCO player in the 2021 class by 247 Sports, is 6-foot-9 and 190 pounds.
āWe think Langston has a really high upside," coach Nate Oats said in a statement Wednesday. "Heās a gym rat, heās long and athletic. He had a misdiagnosis in high school that kept him from playing basketball so heās only played one year of organized basketball and we feel he has a tremendously high ceiling. We are looking forward to getting him in here next summer. His length and athleticism will add a lot to our team next season.ā
Holt is listed as 247 Sports' No. 117 overall prospect and is 6-foot-6, 190 pounds.
āWe needed to find someone to replace John Petty who is one of the best shooters in the country and we felt like we went out and got one of the premier shooters in all of high school basketball in Jusaun Holt," Oats said. "We also love the fact that he is a two-way player. We want everyone we recruit to take the defensive end as serious as they take the offensive end and we feel he is certainly that way. We think he is one of the best two-way wings in the country. He comes from Atlanta and I know the last player we got from that area turned out pretty good in Collin Sexton. We want to keep that pipeline going. Weāre ecstatic to get Jusaun and we think he is going to fit our style of play perfectly.ā
Boosted by Davison, the No. 9 overall player by 247 Sports, Alabamaās 2021 class is rated No. 13 in the country. Its 2020 class, Oats' first recruited group at Alabama, finished No. 12 in 247 Sports' ratings.
The 2021 class could grow in the coming months before the regular signing period begins April 14.
ā[Weāre] still planning on signing five," Oats said last week. "Plan on signing three for sure early. If we get two late -- stuff obviously changes. We signed one early last year and signed five late. I doubt itās going to be that many additional late this year, I hope not, but who knows what happens.ā
