| CURRENT EVENTS Trump elected as the 47th President: The transition ...

You say the starting time is 7am Eastern. Isn’t 7am Eastern the equivalent of 4am Pacific? Or are you saying that each time zone’s voting begins at 7am and runs for 24 hours?

The problem with this is that results will be finalized later because we have to wait until the polls close to determine the winner. The results aren’t known the instant the polls close.
i'm saying voting starts at 7am eastern and is open for 24 hours... so it closes at 7am Eastern the next morning. That would be opening at 4am PST and closing at 4am PST the next day. If you want to vote at 7am PST, you vote at 7am PST... or vote at 5pm PST or 11am PST or 9pm PST or 3am PST you can... it's open for a total of 24 hours. Every hour and minute on the clock is represented in every time zone around the world in the same 24 hr period.

All the polls open and close at the same time so all the polls are open for the same 24 hours, so any information that is released after the polls close does not have the chance to affect the other states turnout. It's not about knowing instantly the winner... it's about not suppressing turnout in the later closing areas by the results that are released by media in earlier closing polls. If it's pouring rain in your Nevada (which can actually be dangerous with flash flooding) and you don't think your vote will make a difference in the Presidential race due to the Media "calling" races on the East coast, you may not go vote at all... which can have devastating affect on local initiatives votes along with state congress/gov races along with Capital Congress races.

Talked to my uncle,( retired navy commander). Last night.
Also just got off the phone with a buddy of mine, (retired colonel in the Air Force). He still counsels in “special ops, and weaponry”. He will be back in Germany he thinks if feb or march doing inspections.

They both said the military as a whole are so excited, fired up, and the overall morale is going through the roof after the election!!!!

Just the time difference affects the other state’s turnout. While East Coast voters may get in line to vote at 7am, you won’t see a lot of West Coast voters lining up at 4am. Each state is voting for the President, but they are also voting for Senators, Congressmen/women, and local races and issues. You’re better off saying voting is for 12 hours, 7am to 7pm local time. That gives everyone the same timeframe to vote. Remember that the President is put into office based on the electoral college, not the popular vote. Therefore West Coast states very much play a role in the outcome, regardless of what the East Coast does.

You just don’t get it, do you… maybe I’m not smart enough to explain.

Why would any west coast person line up at 4am… they can line up at 7am too. It’s a 24 hr period of time.

If you live on the east coast, you can vote at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am, 6am,

Show me a time in that isn’t represented in both time zone. You wanna vote at 7am… ok, you can do it on the east coast or west coast. You wanna vote at 12pm, ok do it. You wanna vote at 4am, ok do it.

Why staff the polling place if nobody is going to show up? Why staff the poll for 24 hours if you can get the results in 12 hours? Why staff the polls for 24 hours if you’re trying to get results to share with the people, the government (local, state and US) and the media? Why do you want to extend voting beyond Election Day?

Much like Musk, Rowling could say nothing and just sit back and take in her money. Instead, she’s led the charge against this trans movement for quite some time now. I’m pretty sure she lines up on the liberal side of most every other issue, but this single issue, to her at least, weighs heavily. No doubt it has cost her money. No doubt she’s had threats because of it. But she hasn’t backed down a single inch on her crusade and it doesn’t appear she ever will. I’d guess that she carries more influence worldwide than any other female not named Taylor Swift. And while I think the opinions of celebrities should always be handled with some amount salt, she earned my respect for going into this battle when she absolutely didn’t have to.

Edit to include this gem from Election Day as well…

I understand the electoral college being the deciding factor but I'm very pleased the electoral college winner actually won the popular vote as well.
I can't understand why someone would want to get the electoral college removed? I guess I do because if we didn't have it, the last time the Republican party won the popular vote was 2004!

I was up at the Circle K a few minutes ago...guy at the counter started complaining because his Miller Lite was more expensive today. I told him the price changed Tuesday night or Wednesday morning because of the election.

"Trump gets elected. Beer goes up."

I've seen a few dumbfounded expressions in my life for the bull shit I throw out there...that one was in the top five. The guy is readjusting his glasses looking at me, then the beer cans, then me, then the cashier...

Too funny.
