📡 🏆 CFP Selection Show (and bowls) #1 Bama vs #4 Cincy in the semi's (UM vs UGA)

No. Each game stands alone, kind of like getting tails on a coin flip five times in a row doesn't make heads the next flip any more or less likely.
Each season stands alone: '21 more so than any other in recent memory (from my lofty perspective.) This weekend has a feel to it leading me to expect upsets: a lot of schizophrenic teams.

A few days ago while listening to a discussion on Harbaugh I remembered reading about his playing days at Michigan. He was their starting quarterback in a game where Iowa showed up and upset the Wolverines. There's been a handful—four, maybe six—of games that are like this one...just has that feel of "don't discount the Hawkeyes." I have a faint memory of a big game in the mid-80's...front of the sports page in Alabama kind of win.

Do you think Michigan is 10+ points better than Iowa?

If you'll look through the Sportsbook's games this weekend you'll see a lot of games within a touchdown. I didn't count them but I'd bet 70% of this weekends games are within six points: ripe for an upset weekend with favored teams falling.

I think Michigan played their best game of the year against Ohio State, and Ohio State was shown to be a flawed team. That being said - and I hope I'm wrong - I think Iowa is an absolute pretender. None of their opponents are currently ranked. Early wins against early media darlings Indiana and Iowa State are now hollow given their crap seasons, and the big matchup against Penn State has lost its luster as PSU had its patsies early and went on to lose five of its last seven games, only beating Maryland and Rutgers down the stretch.

I don't bet on football, but from where I see it Michigan as a ten point favorite is a likely cover. Straight up, I think its the most unlikely meaningful game to us (Michigan, Cincy and Okie State) to end up in an upset.

RTR,

Tim

That's where I have Cincy.

OSU leaves me shaking my head a bit. I still wonder how they ended up beating Baylor. Now, my full attention wasn't on their game (AU vs LSU, UF vs UK evening) but I do remember Sanders had a INT problem all night and they still won.

Here's to it not being a "chalk" weekend.

If they can avoid turnovers, Houston could make a game of it. Four against Texas Tech (out of just 13 on the year) resulted in their only loss. I agree it's unlikley.

I honestly don't see them jumping Bama over Michigan if they keep it up. 21-3 at the moment. You don't get jumped for winning your P5 Conference Championship in a near shut out, even if someone else won theirs in startling fashion. Michigan 1, Bama 2. Cincy 3. UGA 4. Calling it now if Michigan keeps it like this. There are many saying UGA doesn't even deserve 4 and may be on the outside looking in.
