All week long, I told my friends and family that there was one key matchup to watch in this game:
The trench wars.
Terrence Cody proved to be quite the disruptive force tonight. It seemed that he was in the backfield every single play. Eventually, this freed up the defensive ends and linebackers to make the big plays. Text book 3-4 defensive philosophy.
Also, our offensive line proved their experience and gave John Parker time to throw all night long. Aside from the passing game, they were opening up holes for our running backs very consistently.
Still, I'd better not forget to mention the running backs. We rushed for a whopping 240 yards on the night. Mark Ingram showed everyone that he was better than advertised. I was extremely impressed with this guy. Coffee was strong(pun intended) and ran with authority. Our running backs did a great job in the passing game too. They made key blocks and proved to be deadly passing threats.
All in all, Alabama showed everybody something tonight. This football team has heart. They have the talent and most of all, they are determined to be dominant. It's been a while since I've seen Alabama finish like they did tonight. Our freshmen stepped up and showed that they could make an impact.
