🏈 Thoughts on Milroe taking some snaps at the "emergency" RB position?

Picking up on what DoubleDog said... Plenty of other guys who can move up the chart, or temporarily swap, who already get reps at RB or have played it in the past. Moving a guy from QB, who needs the practice reps to improve his play as a QB, and would be a must have at QB if Bryce were to miss significant time would be something that Saban would spend zero time considering.

He's a quarterback who can run the ball. There's a HUGE difference in the skill set between a guy who has played RB with their vision and instincts.

Yep, and as was mentioned by some, his Wildcat type package can serve a purpose in terms of lessening the load on the RB's if needed. But yeah... it's more than just being a RB too. Imagine having him out there after he's been with the RB's for 3 weeks in practice and he misses a blitz pickup and gets Bryce blown up and knocked out of a game.

We need, IMO, a reliable backup QB that can come in and for lack of a better word, manage the game in an emergency situation. I understand why BY has been playing so much, he needs game experience as well but we are in trouble at QB if we do not someone some game reps.

Yeah, blitz pick up would never get to where it needs to be, so it would limit Milroe's effectiveness as a RB anyway.

What it is time for - not that this is a criticism yet - is to start using that Wildcat package. BRob just went 35 carries after missing a week with bad ribs. He needs a lighter load this week. Roydell can take some, but is he ready for 17 carries? Can Trey take 10 and be effective?

Imagine what you could get out of the MilroeCat and playing 11 on 11 football for that package of plays? It would straing the A&M defense. They don't need a ton to go wrong to start playing not quite as hard this Saturday.

I mean has there been more injuries than Jase or am I missing something? Roydell, Robinson, Trey Sanders are a pretty damn good rotation as is and it's not like Alabama has a bunch of walk-ons beside Jase and B-Rob. Camar Wheaton (5* Freshman) is also there. I think there would probably need to be quite a few injuries piling up before you would even think about moving your third QB - that seems to be damn close to No. 2 - to RB.

Camar Wheaton is injured. He hasn't practiced since the week before Miami, and is not cleared yet to practice with a meniscus repair. He could be close to cleared to practice again, but I'd put the best case scenario for him to be able to play effectively at Nov 13.

Trey Sanders is apparently not ready for more than mop up duty. His heaviest workload was week 1. He looked pretty good, but I wonder if he had a slight setback after getting that much game contact.

BRob has been battling injury and missed a game. Jase is out.

Things are close to getting awfully concerning. Even a minor injury to BRob and you're looking at the 3rd string guy starting and a guy less than 100% backing him up.

Was not aware of Wheaton. I would say if Sanders is good to go it's still not an issue, especially when Wheaton gets back but if it comes down to moving someone I would think someone like Kristian Story would be a better bet. He's not getting a ton of playing time at DB right now and is a guy that has good size and is very athletic and if I'm not mistaken the type of offense Lanett was running was damn near a Wildcat type of offense.
