We lost because of our fumbles on special teams, the batshit crazy TDs by Ole Miss, and because the coaches started the wrong fucking QB. We also lost Robert Foster in a game where he would've played a critical role

We showed a lot of heart, and the ability to come back multiple times.

If we had simply named Coker the starter two weeks ago, like I suggested, I think we would've won tonight.
With our defense, and a Coker-led offense we're going to be extremely tough for anyone to beat. I like our chances the rest of the year, honestly. Tough loss tonight, but I think our team will go on a tear the rest of the season. I predict either one more loss, or a playoff birth.

Can we NOW name Coker the starter? Jesus H Christ. What a total coaching fuckup this game was

Coker's interceptions were mostly due to desperation from being behind. The guy led our offense to 37 points and almost won an abortion of a game. The LAST person who should be shouldering blame for this game is Coker.
I blame coaching all the way around for this loss. Hopefully the coaches will learn from this loss - biggest shit show I've seen under Saban
 
This team has the POTENTIAL to be good but I'm afraid overall coaching is starting to become a common problem.

I find it mind boggling that Ole Miss' (OLE MISS, let that sink in for a second) secondary plays the ball better than ours. They did last year and did again this season. Like I said in an earlier thread this week. Different players same results. Our players are OBVIOUSLY not looking for the ball and our defensive scheme simply isn't designed to stop these spread teams for an entire game.

Offensively, there's not much to say honestly other than in today's game if you don't have a QB you are going struggle mightily. It's as simply as that. Coker is the best option we have right now but his limitations are obvious and not sure if they are fixable at this point in his career. But either way, this game can no longer be played with mediocre qb's and great defenses. The game has drastically changed (from an offensive standpoint) and teams that used to not even be able to stay on the field with us for a half are now beating us with less talent. And until we see significant rule changes made to the game (which don't bet on it) to bring a more competitive balance back to it. We are going to continue to see teams implement these spread offenses against us. Last night was hard for me to watch....Ole Miss has now beaten us two years in a row and by the looks of it are on the same level as Alabama. That is something I'd never think I'd see in my lifetime.
 
I feel like I watched a different game than some of you. I'm sorry they lost, but I like what I saw from the team. When a team is down by three scores that late in the game and stay resilient and fight that shows me they are cohesive and committed. Yeah Alabama caught some bad breaks last night with turnovers and a tricky/strange plays that couldn't be repeated if lives depended on it, but at the end of the game - Alabama still had a chance and ultimately that's all you can ask of a sports team. It's still way too early in the season to annoint awards and choose playoff/bowl teams, but I think Alabama will have a chance to win every game they play.
It's a game being played by young men who are learning - let's cut them some slack and realize that sometime. I have four young children, they're going to face adversity in their lives and have thing not go their way...I want to see them get taught that no matter what happens to keep fighting and drive on. Say what you want about that game, but those young men (and a lot of spectators) learned what that team was about last night and maybe picked up a life lesson.
Just my two cents.
 
Just so you guys know and not an excuse but "my sources" say Coker was very sick with something like a 103 temperature. Just kidding about my sources, I don't have any. Read it somewhere in the gazillion articles I read this morning.

People often look at the same thing and walk away with a different viewpoint. Nothing wrong with that.

Yes we made mistakes.
Yes we made blunders that gave the ball into ready opposing hands eager to score.
But did anyone see the Colts game last week? Jeez Luck and the men looked gawd awful and they're pros; Bama are students who wake up today with textbooks in their hands and with pencil ends rolling in the corner of their mouths while they read through their homework for class tomorrow.

Personally, I think that even with the errors, Bama gave those Misses a helluva run right down to the wire, keeping sweat on their brows and sh*t in their pants, which is a lot more than can be said for Auburn.... a team that had FEWER turnovers than us and still got bitch slapped one helluva of a lot worse!

We did what we could; and did our best when SHIT 'APPENS!

Roll damn Tide.
 
We "did our best"? Sorry my crimson brethren but if that's our best we're in for a helluva long season. We turned the ball over FIVE TIMES!!! Resulting in 24 pts. We continually either cannot get off the field against spread teams or can't keep the big, back breaking play from happening. This is no longer just a coincidence. It is a pattern that all good spread teams are kicking our butts at. The day we sit back and celebrate that we at least gave Ole Miss a scare as some sort of moral victory we have reached mediocrity.

And if you think tonight's game was tough, just wait until we play LSU. We won't need to turn the ball over 5 times for them to hang 43 on us. They will beat us like a rented mule without a single turnover. They have a complete championship team this season. We better get our act together or there's more losses on the way.

Meant... "we did our best" to "comeback" and try to make amends for all those horrible mistakes. Point being... we didn't just fold and roll over like the Barn. And for that we should be commended despite the fact that turnovers have led us to a low minus-3 when during our heyday of the BCS bama was something like plus-5o or more in the turnover margin. But again... it's football... and we have good years and bad years. Sometimes how we deal with the "bad" is more impressive than how we cheer for the "good"

To be fair, I should have mentioned fumbles as well. Turnovers allow those fluke plays to matter.
 
I completely disagree this is a talented team. This is not the Bama of early Saban years. We got skills players who are just horrendous with ball security .. guys like Ard stewart and Drake. Plus we dont have a physical receiver who fights for the ball. Mullaney was the only saving grace and he had 2-3 drops.
What happened to the taller receivers. I know Cam was injured. Dont we have another transfer from LSU who has never seen the ball. Our receivers are barely average. So many dropped balls.. on the other hand Ole Miss receivers made Kelly look better than his play.
Absolutely no blame to coaches for playing Cooper and Coke. We know the reasons .. both have their limitations. I thought both played well within their advertised strengths. Cant blame them for this loss.

The fumblers, last INT by Coker (abs no need to throw with 3 mins left), coaching decisions during last 3 mins, special teams coaching -- were the main culprit along with luck.

Frankly Ole Miss looked more Bama like (physical). I hate soft teams.
 
This game was doomed from the start. You can say the turnovers caused the loss and that is probably the reason, otherwise we have 37 points and they have more like 20, but the facts are that they had a lot to do with some of those fumbles and going to the ball on the interceptions when our receiver was not even turned around. Ole Sis just outplayed us. Now maybe just maybe they know what they have to do to improve from here.
 
Maybe some perspective here... CNS has won 3 National Championships with one loss & without the benefit of the playoffs. He has had only 1 undefeated season.

'Bama didn't quit last night, y'all. Those boys didn't quit against a team who was talented & had ALL of the breaks go their way. I am moderately ashamed of how we has fans are viewing this & how so many walked out of that stadium. Despite that, the coaches & the players didn't quit. There is a lot of work to be done, yes, but come on... This team didn't quit & we know they are in capable hands. They will grow from this.
