Not being with a crowd beats it, hands down.![]()
@bamatommyMan our theater here - they just built a brand new a couple of years ago - decided they were going to provide actual meal foods (chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc.) along with the usual theater food and it's really reasonable. Chicken nugget combo for like $7, which is about what you will pay anywhere. The popcorn and candy is still outrageous to me but at the same time you can get a huge bucket of popcorn for $20 that gives you a free refill each time you come to the theater for the entire year (as long as you bring the bucket with you each time). My wife and I decided to check out a movie when we stayed in Pensacola earlier this year and I didn't realize just how spoiled we had gotten until I went to up there and bought two cokes, two nachos and it was $20.
And bama set up free water tanks for those September games....and let u bring in empty water bottlles....and misting areas to cool off...hats off to BamaWhen people (not me) pay $5 for water at a ballgame, that's highway robbery! I'm cheap so I usually do not buy anything when I attend a game but every once an awhile, I'll break down and buy a bag of peanuts for $4.
Missed only 2 home games in last 12 years... still excited about going...love going to away games....Kentucky, msu, ole ms, lsu, tn....a few others...How old are you @TerryP? I am 55 and I am still fine with crowds. My wife on the other hand, same age and avoids large gatherings like the plague.
I agree with @50+yeartidefan , going to a game is an experience. When my son was younger we used to go to most games at home. One particularly memorable game was the the 2009 LSU/Bama game when Julio took the WR screen to the house. Never heard the stadium that load before. It has become one of the stories we tell in our house. A memory shared that we would not have if I were in my living room.
Yep...we do the "before evening" shows...senior discount....,...save 2 dollars....lol@50+yeartidefan, Interesting you've brought up a movie theatre. The worst thing about that experience is the people watching the movie. I'd rather see a matinee with as few as possible.
Watching football is the same...been there, done that, not my thing any longer. Ironically, watching football and drinking beer isn't something I do often (not unlike golf.) Now, beer and anything else? As long as there aren't many people around.
I guess the older I get the more of a curmudgeon I become.![]()

How much of this is due to it being with the boys?I'm 54 and still greatly enjoy the games, and I'm a live music junkie as well, so I don't mind mingling in crowds.

I was at the games I put in bold above. Also at many of the LSU games from about 2000 to 2013. Had a friend that was a tide pride member and I would pay for one of those tickets and occasionally get his other tickets when he could so I could take my son when he was little.I'm 54 and still greatly enjoy the games, and I'm a live music junkie as well, so I don't mind mingling in crowds. If I'm not at a Bama game, though, I want to watch it alone. I remember the stadium explosions mentioned above. The first play Prothro TD in his Florida injury game was loud. There was a scoop and score against Georgia (we ended up losing, I believe) that was a seismic event. The streak-breaking game against aubrun was loud, and almost every LSU game in Tuscaloosa is crazy loud as everyone pitches in to drown out the corn dogs. I've always enjoyed the Atlanta games (openers and SECC/Playoffs) when I get to hear the extremely loud opponent's fans go from a frenzy in the first quarter, to anger/hope in the second quarter, to dejected silence in the second half - all the while Bama fans build.

You are not my ex-wife's second husband are you?
I know this was tongue in cheek but nope. Wife and I have only been married once. Going on 32 years now.
Appreciate it. Didn't say the wife didn't want to kill me on some daysCongrats! Not many can say that these days.
Yeah my ex hated crowds and she hated that I was a Bama football fan(took my attention away from her for those few Saturdays each year). After ten years together, we finally called it quits, we were both stubborn or it would have ended much sooner. The guy she married a few years later, another Bama fan and she somewhat got over it, as she posted pics of them in BDS on FB. This was a full decade after our divorce but that still stung. I guess she finally went to a Bama game with me...as I was in BDS that same game.I know this was tongue in cheek but nope. Wife and I have only been married once. Going on 32 years now.
